BU getting it's butt kicked.

At least they beat Cornell. Cornell fans still sing screw B U 40 years after Hockey East split from the ECAC.

BU and Cornell were the biggest rivals of the 70s in the east. Bigger than BU BC

My sister went to Cornell for grad school and she always says that the NHL games I take her to are manufactured atmosphere and for the real deal you need college hockey. Personally I think Canadian junior hockey and pro games in places like Finland are probably just as good but she insists that Cornell hockey is like the Burning Man of sports with skates.

Just thought I would point out that Western Michigan University (my Alma Mater) won the Frozen Four by beating BU 6-2.

Saw those games.  Congratulations.  I’m looking forward to Alex Bump joining the Flyers.  Think he was a fifth round pick.  Maybe AHL first?  I know Keith Jones also went there.

A while ago, when the B1G formed a hockey conference, the remnants of the old CCHA & WCHA reorganized into the National College Hockey Conference and a remainder WCHA. The NCHC had most of the premiere programs, like Denver and NoDak. The WCHA got a lot of the smaller Minnesota and Michigan schools. I was surprised Western ended up in the NCHC as I think Northern is WCHA, but St Cloud and UN-Omaha are NCHC too. Mankato (Minn St) is one of the best WCHA.

Frozen 4 had 2 Hockey East traditional powers as well as 1st timers from the B1G (Penn St) and Western from the NCHC.

Off year for the ECAC, which is the Ivies plus mostly smallish NY schools that have always been D1 and Quinnipiac.

In the pack in the Boston Marathon:
Quote
Back for the third time is former Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara. The 6-foot-9 Slovakian, now a 48-year-old endurance athlete who has also competed in Ironman races, finished last year’s race in 3:30:52 and has previously run to raise money for the Hoyt Foundation.

The Hoyts were the father and son duo who used to race as a tandem with the father pushing the son in a running chair. Dick and Richard, I think. The Hoyts have been emulated but not duplicated.

I think the "Iron Brothers" may have actually surpassed them...

The "Iron Brothers" Miguel and Pedro Ferreira Pinto completed an Ironman triathlon together, with Miguel assisting Pedro, who has cerebral palsy, through the swim, bike, and run portions of the race. They achieved this by using a boat for swimming, a special bike for cycling, and a wheelchair for running. This remarkable feat highlights their strong brotherly bond and commitment to overcoming challenges together.

could have. I forget when the Hoyts started . . .  need to google ... Rick and Dick started in 1981. Did 32, stopped in 2014. Rick (who also had cerebral palsy) did the MCM in 2:40:47 in 1992, ahead of Dick.

well, Rick was entered, but Dick pushed him for 26.2 so the kid always finished ahead of his dad.

Ah...

The brother's Iron Man seems like something so physically taxing that it's hard to believe any one human being could accomplish all that for two people.

My High School buddy completed the Iron Man on the Big Island maybe 40-ish years ago.  I fear I may be losing him to father time...he'd forgotten that we skydived in college back in 1973...

I live in a city that hosts an Iron Man competition and the idea of swimming 2 miles in tidal water while pulling another person is insane in and of itself

https://news.yale.edu/2025/04/17/zombie-runners-and-bigger-bases-bringing-order-chaos-sports

Broad symposium on analytics covering multiple sports (soccer, football, tennis, and of course baseball). Theo explains the drafting of Dustin Pedroia and Mookie Betts, as well as the rule changes that speed up baseball. On soccer, there's a discussion of shooting at different quadrants of the goal and why it is that the best quadrant (upper corners) are not targeted more (theory is it is more embarrassing to miss high than it is to miss low). Role of luck in tennis; Hypothetically, given Serena's skill set and dominance, she would have had a better career in more 5 set matches than 3 sets.

The WPHL has added their 7th team.  Vancouver will start play in the 2025-2026 season.

This will be the 4th Canadian team.  The NHL, with 32 teams, only has 7.

DC needs to be the 8th team...

The expansion draft should be interesting...
