Tawny Kitaen, model famous for the Whitesnake video, and married to Dave Coverdell and MLB pitcher Chuck Finley, dies at 59.
Not a person, but the Obama's dog Bo has died.
aw man, absolute icon for anyone who was a teenager in the 1980's. She was in Bachelor Party as well
didn't she and Chuck Finley get into a big fight?

They adopted him in 2008 so yeah 12-13
Pete du Pont, former Governor of Delaware and 1988 Presidential candidate.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_du_Pont
Bob Dole: Can I say something, Pat? I don’t know what my good friend Pierre Dupont – and that’s your name; come on, it’s Pierre, not Pete, don’t go around telling people your name’s Pete when it’s Pierre – PIerre, I don’t know what you know about Social Security. I mean, Bob Dole didn’t grow up with a 150-foot yacht, I didn’t have the convertible for graduation, the sterling silver cocktail shaker, or the machine that tears the tennis balls at you..

Sad story.
Charles Grodin, famous for Midnight Run and a bunch of other movies, has died. I was shocked to hear that he was 86. He was fantastic as a dead-pan actor in a comedic role.

Tommie Smith's record in the 200 stood for 11 years after that as well...though he was more famous for other reasons.
Deniro better watch out.
I suppose competing in Mexico City and the lack of air resistance probably helped some of those remarks. IIRC, that team also did a few tricks, like training at altitude (Denver) and perhaps reinfusing blood (which was either undetectable or not against the rules at the time). Beamon for sure was helped on his jump.
I'd have thought that the air pollution would have offset any altitude advantage. Maybe it doesn't matter in such a short event.
