I was about to dog our swimming team but Lydia Jacoby won gold! Did you see the reaction of the kids from her high school?

That was awesome. First one from Alaska.

Watching USA and China in women’s volleyball. USA has a good squad.

I saw the first ever athlete from The Philippines won a gold medal, that's in around 100 years of competing.

Whenever someone says sports don’t matter a clip of those kids losing their minds watching her win needs to be played, I got chills watching that!

Spider - it's not like you to dog anything.  This swimming team must have grabbed you by the balls.

Simone Biles out of the gymnastics final with an apparent injury.

Quote
She did not appear to suffer any obvious physical injury during her attempt. NBC reported that she was dealing with a “mental issue” not a physical one. USA Gymnastics would just describe it as a "medical issue."

"Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue," USA Gymnastics said in a statement. "She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions."

Biles returned soon after and had her wrists wrapped as if she would compete in the next discipline, the uneven bars. However, she soon unwrapped them and put on her warm-up outfit.

Kind of weird that she has been in all these major competitions for years and this surfaces now. Probably just more comfortable letting it surface in today’s environment.

She posted something earlier on instagram about difficulty dealing with all the pressure she's under. :(

I can't imagine living in a fishbowl the way she has for pretty much her entire adult life.  Never mind with lots of personal baggage getting put out there.  Personally I'd just disappear like a mafia witness.

She's on a completely different planet than her peers in terms of talent, profile, and pressure. I can't imagine what it's like to deal with that.

I wonder if at some point they will realize that it’s not healthy to have little girls competing on a major world stage. Tennis put in restrictions years ago on age. Not a healthy environment. Even without the perv doctor.

Normally, it seems like they become famous at the Olympic trials, compete in the Olympics, get a little run and then fade away before the next crop replaces them. The ones that I feel bad for are the ones who are expected to make it and fall short. I know someone who was expected to be an Olympian (they had been on the trajectory for years) and then they got a couple of injuries at an inopportune time and that was it. All the years of sacrifice and expense and they didn't quite make it

What? Bunches of girls have competed and been just fine mentally, to try to say all young girls will not be able to handle it is crazy.

ok
Here’s another one. Just doesn’t make sense to me why the men’s completion has men.  And the women’s has so many little girls.

I think going from a girl's body to a woman's body is different than a boy body going to a man's. I mean, girls grow boobs and from what I gather that's not conducive to gymnastics, at least not the kind of relentless trick after trick after trick they do now. Gymnastics, like skating, used to be for older females when being graceful was part of the package, but no one wants that now, it's all how high can you flip and how many rotations you can do. Again, I think the boobs throw it all off

Also, maybe men should stop being perverts and abusing the girls.

It's been documented that the heavy duty training they endure delays the onset of puberty.  I think Biles being on top at the ripe old age of 24 also essentially refutes that line of thinking about boobs and such limiting what they can do.  I mean kids could still do gymnastics in school.  Just raise the age from 16 to 18 for international competitions.
