Of course.

So you must not be ready to try different variations, with garlic, heavy cream, various cheeses, etc.  Or even the leftovers fried as pattycakes.

We marinade yellow and green squash in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar before grilling.  Very very good.  We cut it pretty thin though.
You say green squash but do you mean Zuchinni?

Oh, that sounds interesting. Are you talking a small amount of oil or deep fried? I'm unfortunately trying to avoid the latter.

You can't lose with stilton & shallot mashed potatoes next to a bacon-wrapped steak.  Might need angioplasty but so it goes.

So a number of groceries have them in the 'world foods' aisle or whatever euphemism they use, but Anne Chun bowls are just really solid. I love the sweet chili ones. Really good for a quick lunch.

Much cheaper at WalMart. Like half the price of Giant.

Never deep fried - except fried chicken.  Fried pattycakes are pan fried like a hamburger could be

Thanks - will need to give that a shot instead of shepherd's pie as the leftover usage by default.

Here is a great chicken recipe that is very easy:

PORTUGUESE STYLE POT ROASTED CHICKEN

INGREDIENTS

14½ OUNCE CAN DICED FIRE-ROASTED TOMATOES

1 CUP TAWNY PORT OR BRANDY (SEE NOTE)

1½ TEASPOONS SMOKED PAPRIKA

4 OUNCES THICK-CUT BACON, CHOPPED

3 POUNDS BONE-IN, SKIN ON CHICKEN THIGHS, LEG QUARTERS OR BREASTS (SEE NOTE)

1 TBLS MINCED GARLIC

KOSHER SALT AND GROUND BLACK PEPPER

1 BUNCH FRESH CILANTRO OR PARSLEY, CHOPPED

NOTE:  Can Use Boneless Chicken As Well

DIRECTIONS

In a large Dutch oven, stir the tomatoes with juices, port, paprika and bacon. Generously season the chicken with salt and pepper, then nestle skin up in the pot.

Heat the oven to 400°F. Roast, uncovered, until the dark meat reaches 175°F or white meat reaches 160°F, about 50 minutes.

Transfer the chicken to a serving dish. Stir the herb into the sauce, then season with salt and pepper. Spoon around the chicken.

Nice.  The port must come from an unopened bottle, very important.

Interesting - I wouldn't have realized it was important.  But given our little use of Port, it was a new bottle from Food Lion

At a guess, Ali is taking this approach to the Port... some for the chicken, a glass for me, more for the chicken, more for me. Repeat until recipe has sufficient Port and Ali does as well.

1 TBLS MINCED GARLIC

KOSHER SALT AND GROUND BLACK PEPPER

1 BUNCH FRESH CILANTRO OR PARSLEY, CHOPPED

NOTE:  Can Use Boneless Chicken As Well

DIRECTIONS

Sample the Port to make sure it is acceptable.

In a large Dutch oven, stir the tomatoes with juices, port, paprika and bacon. Refill your glass to make sure the Port has not gone bad since you opened the bottle. Generously season the chicken with salt and pepper, then nestle skin up in the pot. Pour some more Port because the hard work of moving the chicken made you thirsty.

Heat the oven to 400°F. This takes a while, so have another glass of Port. Roast something, uncovered, while you have some more Port. Set a timer for when to check the oven. This takes a while, so have some more Port. Question why that timer is going off.

Smell something burning and then remember you had something in the oven. Pull out burned chicken. Drown your sorrows with another glass of Port. You can't drive anywhere now, so order pizza.

Oh, believe me, the more garlic and other junk they can load in them mashies the better I can tolerate them for an evening.

Used to love LSF, but their quality and selection kept going downhill over the last 6-7 or so years...haven't been back for maybe 2-3 years, so maybe it picked up.  Their shrimp cocktail, wedge salad and rolls were top notch at one time...
