Oh, dearie me. Seems I've struck a nerve. I half expected that, because.....

I may be new to the board, but you and I go way back together, Sunshine Guy.  ;) ;) ;)
He's a jerk. Keep posting and welcome refuge to WNFF.

 Thanks. I'm well familiar with him. If he digs into his memory banks, he might figure out who I am eventually. Or not....doesn't really matter.

I feel like an NHL linesman letting guys jaw a little and push before trying to separate them. Keep the focus on baseball and the Nats and not on each other.  Bury the hatchet,  even if you are tempted to bury it in each other.

Gotta draw the line at cross checks.

slashes on the hands when you are ahead of the last defenseman seem to be OK in the 3d period after last night.  But the slash was to Marchand, so he must have done something to deserve it.

I've watched him a bit against the Caps and snippets during the playoffs.    He, as they say, "can get under your skin."

Might not be related, but it should be pointed out that old MLB and BPG feuds didn't start spilling over here until Martinez brought in those camels.

Let the record show that he got p!ssy with me first.  :mg: I have no axe to grind, only fond memories of going 'round and 'round with him years ago. Dude has some thin skin.

Harper leading off tonight with Turner behind him is just throwing crap at the wall.

Turner needs to be leading off.

Not the best night to blast the man for putting Bryce at leadoff.

Seriously, I've never been quite on board with saying one of your 3 best hitters should hit leadoff, but I'll give Dave Camels some credit for not blindly refusing to do it.  Our best hitter will get the most plate appearances tonight. Long run, the spot leads off the most.  Teams are reluctant to walk leadoff hitters so he should see some pitches.  I get it.

"Your shower shoes have fungus on them. You'll never make it to the bigs with fungus on your shower shoes. Think classy, you'll be classy. Win 20 in the show, you can let the fungus grow back and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win 20 in the show, however, it only means you are a slob."

As the great Crash Davis said about Nuke's flip flops, that's how I feel about Davey.  If you win 95 games and go deep in the playoffs, you can be goofy and laid back and do all kinds of weird lineups and things.  However, as a rookie manager, doing nutty stuff like letting Scherzer attempt to steal a base, or continuing to burn out Doolittle by putting him in non-save situations, or letting a player take spring training off - it's unsettling as a fan.

Davey might end up being a great manager, but right now he's more flaky than good.

PowerBoater, if the Nats are in the World Series I want you to stand outside the centerfield gates wearing a camel costume offering free rides to all kids under 12. I will stand next to you holding a fear the camel sign

BTW The camel is now the official mascot of the USA olympic swim team

Ha! Sounds like fun, but at this point I don't see that happening.

the double standard is hilarious

Dusty gets the blame despite the fact he had injuries and no bp
and still won meanwhile Camel Jockey gets a free pass
nothing is his fault it's the hitting or pitching lol

you can say that about every manager

a manager wins or loses a handful of games at best but he crates a clubhouse atmosphere he creates a winning or losing mentality he makes crucial bp decisions

the Camel Jockey is one of the worst managers I have ever seen in my life maybe the worst

his unorthodox moves are not backed up by sabermetrics they are just doing things differently with no proof it works at all

I don't see any Manager of the Year awards in Martinez's future.

Too early to say. Davey Johnson had 1372 wins, 224 of them with the Washington Nationals. Dusty Baker won 1863, 192 with the Nats. Dave Martinez has won 14 games. Incidentally, Bucky Harris managed 2158 wins, 1336 with the Washington Nationals, sometimes called the Senators.

The team won 97 games last year with just as many injuries, they are still under 500, hold off on the mission accomplished talk.
