Funnily enough a relative just started talking to me about the Popeye's vs Chick-fil-A sandwich wars.

Yeah, definitely.

I assumed they were always with a DQ. Never seen them otherwise.

Apparently the Winchester Popeyes has not sold out for those not adverse to a drive.

Did you tell them that you were an elderly pensioner?

They didn’t cover senior discounts and such when I went to the social security office so my next visit to Popeyes I’ll push it (just like pre seating on airline flights).  ;)

When I go golfin', I work all the angles.    AARP, pensioner, veteran, high school grad, steelworker, parent, AAA, DJ, etc.    Push all the buttons.    If nothin' else, they'll give ya a sammich to get rid of you.    "Sky King" used to work that when he panhandled in Georgetown in the 70s.     Restaurants/bars would give him food just to get him to leave.

I had some saltine-type crackers I wanted to use up. I had a recipe for Alabama Fire Crackers bookmarked on my iPad and decided to try that. Really easy, and you can scale this recipe up or down depending on how much you want to make (I used two sleeves of crackers instead of four and halved all the other ingredients accordingly). Mixed it up last night and baked it first thing this morning. Very good stuff. I easily could have shoved down way too many of them. (I also tried eating a few before baking them. Those were decent too, but they were greasier on my fingers.)

I lined the baking sheet with parchment paper to make cleanup easier.

Quote
16 oz package of saltine crackers
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 tbsp (2 packages) ranch dressing mix
3 Tbsp red pepper flakes (if you can handle the heat, add more)
2 cups olive oil

Instructions:
1. Using a large gallon Ziploc bag, pour in the olive oil, seasonings, and spices. Close the bag and knead to thoroughly mix the ingredients together.
2. Place all 4 sleeves of crackers in the bag, re-seal, and gently turn the bag over several times to coat the crackers with the spice mixture. The more times you do this the better the coating.
3. Let the bag sit overnight.
4. Remove crackers and lay out on a baking sheet. Bake at 250°F for about 15 minutes. (Note: If you are short on time, the crackers still taste great skipping the baking Step 4.)

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WTVC) — An East Ridge man has filed a civil summons in Hamilton County General Sessions court against Popeyes Chicken because he was not happy about his repeated trips to the fast food restaurant, only to find they were out of their new crispy chicken sandwich.

Lot of folks in the media are usin' Popeyes as a punching bag.    They keep asking, "How do you run out of chicken?".    In one place, the staff tried to use chicken tenders in place of the chicken breast.

Maybe they are generating an artificial shortage to increase hype. But I gotta think that no one expected the hype that has accompanied this sandwich and lines  that are 50-100 people deep. They had some at Pentagon City mall yesterday. They had increased the price to 5 bucks... :hysterical:
