My guess is that the Phillies "Best and Final" is far less than the 10/300+ being kicked around.  Maybe 7/$200M. That's a deal the Nats would probably do.   Harper can say no, I'm not taking anything less than 10 years, $310M, and he can sit out the season, or he can take the best offer and suffer some degree of humiliation. I wonder if he's really stupid enough to sit out. But leaving the door open is the Nats way of saying, if the best offer you're getting is something we can match, come back to us.

I really question that he has an offer on the table equal to or better than Machado of 10/300.  If it was from the Phillies, he'd have signed it already.  The Giants have only been said to have discussed shorter-term to date.  The Padres met just today to determine if they can even make an offer.  Who else besides the Phillies could have made this offer and be holding it up?  Is he just waiting around for a knight on a white horse to come in and give him the $, city, ability to win, etc he wants?

Several sources are confirming a meeting in Vegas although they say no deal is imminent.  You have a source for him being in AZ?  I googled it and there are multiple huddle sports twitter accounts,

After you've been around a while you realize out that hardly anyone is irreplaceable. Yes there are some athletes that truly are a once in generation players. Bryce is not that person.

You're talking like a chick with this feelings and caring crap. I'm not looking for someone to give me the warm and fuzzies, I just want to win and I want players who can get us a series win. And I don't care about the financial aspects of payroll and luxury tax, that doesn't affect me. Please Lerners and Rizzo, assemble the best roster possible and put a winning team on the field. That's what makes me feel good.
