Soto has a high ceiling and could hit for some pretty lofty power and average numbers. His body of work is pretty small, and he kind of came out of nowhere, so there isn't much more than last year to evaluate him on.
I don't not believe that he could hit .320 for 40 HRs. But, Bryce Harper did a lot of what he did without seeing more than one strike at bat or even a game sometimes. If Soto starts hot and gets that treatment, how's he going to handle it? I'd have had a lot more confidence in Soto continuing where he left off if he wasn't going to have to be the main power guy this year.
