Jose Ramirez of Cleveland is like the 2nd best player in baseball and no casual sports fan knows who the freak he is. MLB can't even market Judge or Trout properly.

Marketing Judge should be the easiest thing in the world.

Harper showed up with his own marketing before he was drafted.

MLB doesn't know how to market itself to young crowds outside of being a trendy place to go out for drinks.

Correct.

Baseball is the ultimate individual, stats driven game and they can't cut through. Not sure if it is a good or bad thing that people focus more on the teams than players.

You may have just unintentionally demonstrated why it's harder to market a hispanic player to a fanbase that's largely white and 50+.

MLB has been ruining or destroying  it's various fan bases in search of more dollars than God for generations. If all that is left is white folks over 50 then it's going to be a race to the grave between the last of the white folks and MLB

They dont need to market to that fanbase. They need to market to the 18-35 demographic

It's not just the great numbers.  Like I said above, the kid has a very mature/advanced approach in addition to the insane talent.  Not saying he will have the same type of career, but it reminds you of how Miguel Cabrera looked like when he first came up with the Marlins as a kid.  I'm sure like even HOF vets do, he'll have rough stretches.  But this kid is here to stay and will play basically every day.

This kis is very, very special.  If Robles is all that he's hyped to be, we have some great young building blocks to keep this team competitive as we transition from some older players/potential free agent departures.  We just need an influx of young starting pitching talent.

At what point does the conversation shift from RoY to where he will place in MVP voting?

I don’t know if this is a joke, but if the guy continues at this pace will get MVP votes. Not a lot but a couple.

He should have enough ABs to qualify for season awards.  Right now he's at #2 in the league in OPS and OBP, 7th in slugging, and 5th in BA.

He needs to average 4.4 plate appearances per game to qualify.

Are you sure about that?  From digging around it looks like it's 3.1 per game or 502 for a season.  Soto has 278.  With 51 games left, he needs 224, or 4.4 per game from here on out (until Var corrects the math error I made in the above).

That's what he's saying...4.4 per game from here on out...

It checks...  ;)

uh, you didn't put the 'from here on out' so I thought you meant over a season.

Quote
There are 240 players who have batted at least 250 times this season. The leader among them in wRC+ is Mike Trout, at 190. In second place, we find Mookie Betts. After Betts, there’s Jose Ramirez. After Ramirez, there’s J.D. Martinez. And after Martinez, there’s Juan Soto. There’s 19-year-old Juan Soto, with a wRC+ of 161. This is a season that hasn’t at all gone the Nationals’ way, but even with that being said, the sudden emergence of Soto has changed the organization’s longer-term outlook. And the shorter-term outlook, too.

Remember, before the year, Soto was our No. 50 prospect. In our recent trade-value series, Soto ranked at No. 19 among all players at any level with any team. For those of you who’ve watched the Nationals on a regular basis, I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know, but what makes Soto so special is the way he commands both the bat and the plate. He’s in his first year in the majors. For that matter, he’s also in his first year in Double-A, and his first year in High-A. (He skipped over Triple-A entirely.) Let’s take a look at some major-league percentile rankings.
A number of stat comparison to current MLB leaders, plus a look at him all time among teenage hitters.

The guys who rank prospects overvalue 5 tool guys. They drool over these guys. Unfortunately many of these guys can never hit enough to reach star status. In contrast they undervalue guys who are just good hitters but lack speed, and arm and defensive range. Rhys Hoskins is another example of this.

If there is a ying and yang to this Robles will probably never match his status in the prospect rankings. I would still keep him though. Even if he is just a slightly better than average MLB player he will be under team control for a while.
