His launch angle needs to either go higher (preferred, as more doubles and singles in the gaps or liners dropping in between IF and OF)
I don't think he can live with a low launch angle because he is slow.  Morse got by with it for a few years, but it is hard to be a groundball hitter who is slow.  With shifts now for righties, it is probably even harder.  He has said he was not consciously trying to elevate his launch angle at the start of last year, and folks thought he was hiding something.  It may be he really just was lucky with his hot start.  That said, he has started to hit better since the Rockies series, so he may not be an anchor anymore.

Regardless of his "heat up", he would make a perfect platoon partner with Adams. I figured you would love it! :mg:

Zimm hurts the most because until late August the team face will shrug off constant LRISP with the "It's Early" song

2 for his last 29 with the bases loaded.  This is our clean up hitter.  As Mark Zuckerman said, "that ain't getting it done."

I don't understand how they say they want to use more analytics and then they bat Zim 4th when the man has a history of starting slow. Then when asked about moving him down in the order they say well he has a history of starting slow and turning it around. Why not wait till (if) he gets hot then put him 4th?

Yes, and Martinez was on the Cubs coaching staff when they walked Bryce 10 times in a row just to emasculate Zimmerman (it worked), yet he continues to bat Zimm behind Harper.

After this one, hopefully none.

Is there a gofundme setup?   :)

Taking a look at his fangraphs page, a couple of things stand out.  First, he's seeing a lot more changeups and sliders this year (about 8% increase), and second, he is missing out of the strike zone pitches this year.  That may explain his apparent high exit velocity / hard hit numbers.  OOZ pitches tend to be hit softer, so if he's missing them, his average hit velo benefits from removing the weaker contact.  Now, is weak contact better than no contact?  Well, if the weak contact is sprayed or goes the opposite way, maybe it spreads the defense and avoids overshifting and defensive positioning that lets the D get to his hard hit balls.  I don't know how you get out of this situation.

Zimmerman's buyout for 2020 would be $2 million, $18 million to keep him.  He does get a decent bump after this season, from $14 million to $18 milllion in 2019.

This is Zimmerman's whole career summed up in one quote. Backing up the manager who allowed him to skip spring training. Zimmerman would rather play for a nice guy coach than a winner.

Quote
“It’s nice to have someone who’s honest about everything,” Zimmerman said. “Novel concept. Even after the games in here, obviously haven’t been going our way, it’s like you guys said, keep going, keep playing hard."

He appears to be the least of our worries right now: Last ten games: .300 / .349 / .650, 3 HR, 3 2Bs, 1 3B, 3BB, 6Ks in 40 ABs.

If he continues that then Great. Since the start, he hasn't been.

He said a bad word when he struck out with the bases loaded yesterday.  :hysterical:

Players should be smarter than to say stupid things like “It’s nice to have someone who’s honest about everything,”.  It makes it seem like he's saying Dusty wasn't honest.

That's exactly what he's saying, what can you say, the guy doesn't mind losing.

Whether Dave is a good manager or a winner is TBD.

I'd like to know how people have determined he isn't. What's that based on?

He isn't responsible for hitters unable to hit with runners on base. Which is the reason for the teams record so far.

I don't like him playing Slow Adams in LF. But he's trying to put guys in that will generate offense.

I don't like him taking Hellickson out. But he's playing the numbers. Third time threw the lineup and beyond is tough for a starter. And Dave lacks faith in the offense for good reason.

Other than the thinking he saw the Ump before a pitching change, I don't think he has made any actual mistakes. Not happy with the results doesn't equal he's wrong for all situations.
