Boswell needs to drink a big glass of STFU juce. 2 weeks ago he declared the season dead and now he’s moping about the little bit of pulse that remains.

So he's basically pulled a "Slateman".

Here's your STFU juice. Drink up!

Can only hope the Braves win the Division.  Phils and Nats are both unwatchable.

The starter and a catcher were thought to be the missing pieces since ST. Thinking that AJ Cole could be his #5 and not a long arm out of the BP was hubris. I wouldn't fire Rizzo under any circumstance.
as for a #5, he also had Hellickson and Milone and Fedde.  Hellickson worked out OK.  It was his #2 (Stras) getting hurt and his #3 (Gio) and #4 (Roark) falling apart in June when they needed to step up that doomed the rotation.

Cordero is now pitching in high leverage situations.  That fact alone says it all about the remainder of the 2018 season.
Also, Justin Miller should never have been put in the situations that he has been in.  He was a pleasant surprise earlier in the season, but somehow that morphed into him being the "go to" guy.
Losing Doolittle was big.  I'm going to take an educated guess here that management decided to hold back his return because they wrote off the 2018 season.
Having said all that, this team was going nowhere anyway.  If management sold off before July 31 (including Herrera) then the fans, including  some on this message board, wouldn't have been falsely hoping that the Nats would all of a sudden go on some sort of big run.

I'm really surprised that we have not had the flood of Barves or Philthies trolls on here like we did in 2013 and 2015. Still could happen.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Slateman has been doing some weird performance art at WNFF wherein he's trying to be our board's version of Boz.

They are probably here in disguise and are waiting for the official last nail in the coffin or for their team to clinch to come out and make themselves known.

We need to go on a massive hunt and drive those gutless bastards from our midst. They need to name themselves and stop pretending they are part of the Nats Fandom. ;)

The Nats have been the dominant team in the division for 6 years. Hardly irrelevant. They surely will crawl through the opening like cochroaches.

In 2018, we are irrelevant in the NL East.    It'd be like us trollin' the Phillies in 2016.    I suspect the Phillies and Barves' fans will troll each other.

As usual, I really have not given it that much thought. I just thought they would relish the opportunity to talk some smack now that they've unseated the presumptive division winner.

After today's play, the NL East title is now firmly in the hands of the Braves.  The Nats can knock the Phillies out of contention (for what it's worth).

Are the 2018 Nats as good as the 2011 Nats?

Nats have been winning a lot of games where the win probabilities have dropped to 3 and 5 and 8 percent lately. Well, fangraphs say the Braves are at 93% to win the division. Sounds like we're preparing for one more big rally.

Nats won't make the playoffs. What they will do is grind down the Braves who will get knocked out in the first round. The Braves just don't have the pitching to compete, but on the whole, the NL just lacks something this year. At least that is what it looks like to my eyes.

We've had people that have been saying this about the Braves all year. People in this very thread decided the Braves pitching would wear thin and they'd lose a grip on the division. Now they have a 6.5 game lead on the division and people are saying they won't have the pitching in the playoffs. I'm not sure if you watched Foltynewicz last night, but it's hard pressed to find another pitcher on an NL playoff team (as they stand), that's better than him.

Nats fans were actually watching the Nats.

Oh, I watched both because the Braves were one of the last games going on the west coast. I'm sorry I'm a bigger baseball fan than you and it hurts you so deep that people can watch more than one or two games a day.

Watching the Barves instead of the Nats is the repudiation of all that is good and the embracing of the bitter cud of vile.
