this is part of the reason some folks say there's no "clutch" skill. If it were a skill, those OPS numbers would be a lot closer together.

His 2017 OPS was significantly higher in those "high leverage" situations than his OPS for the season. His 2018 slugging is significantly lower. That says to me, he was "clucth" in 2017 and not clutch in 2018. If "clutch" is real, a guy can have it one season and not the next.

for some reason the Zim thread is discussing HoF which is about 10 great seasons away for Zim...As for Harper I feel like he is on track for HoF, when he probably shouldn't be, in part b/c of all the All-Star games, which is really due to hype. I mean at some point he is a HoF because he projected as a HoFer? Just doesn't seem right...

I agree with your general premise. I mean, I don't hate the guy an would still love to keep him, but does he ever really come through in the clutch? I feel like his home runs are all solo shots either super early in games, or in games that don't matter(we're either up or down a lot). When was his last walk off? Or late inning game tying/go ahead hit? I remember Rangers fans complaining about A-Rod the same way. Put up #s but didn't really result in winning. They went on to make the World Series two years in a row shortly after he left.

This maybe a mindfact but I believe Harper is playing not to get hurt hoping that he does not derail his pending new contract. I do not see him running out infield hits, chasing down balls in the outfield with abandon and he is not clutch as his seven HR's, five were solo shots.

a-rod later went on to win a world series by carrying the yankees offense in the postseason and is one of the best hitters of all-time

The government moved the deadline because they had issues with their electronic filing system. I wouldn't be susprised if the IRS got hacked.

It was moved because of the emancipation holiday in DC.

I believe they allowed payments beyond the 17th because of th computer issues. Luckily for me I file a paper return and send a check.

2013-2017 he has averaged 125.8 games per season. That's a large enough sample size, and it's only going to get worse. Why would any team invest big bucks in him?
