I'm surprised nobody mentioned Bryce's casual effort on Inciarte's game winning "triple" last night.

Listening to Boras seems to be a waste of time like post game press conferences and athletes interviews.

If there is one thing that Harper likes better than hitting tape measure home runs it's talking about his teammates in the media.

Quote
@chelsea_janes Harper on Soto: “It’s bad on both  sides. I think it just caught up with some people. I don’t know if Soto is the one to talk back, cause we do need him in the lineup. It’s frustrating."

Man, he has some nerve.  Addition by subtraction coming this offseason.

Don't bet on it. Lerners have made it clear that making money is more important than on field performance. Like it or not, Harper sells jerseys and gets you national coverage. With his down year, I could totally see them giving him some sort of 1 year, 30 million deal.

:lmao: sure the Lerners’ share of Harper jersey sales tops $30 million

Sure the Nats would do that deal, the idea that Boras would even consider such a contract is almost as bad as the idea that Rizzo would refuse to spend budget money offered by the Lerners.

Jersey sales + ticket sales + national games = more than $30 million

A lot of that depends on how badly Harper finishes a season when the team isn't competitive. If no one in MLB will go over 300 million for Harper, I can totally see Harper saying he'll come back on a one year deal. Either that, or he signs a contract with an opt out after a year or two so he can make more money.

And I really hope the Nats don't do that deal. That money buys you a new catcher and number 3 pitcher.

don't suppose you have anything remotely approaching a source or a methodology for that statement?

His quote about Soto last night was not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I didn't care about his Realmuto quote, but that quote pisses me off. Harper has been thrown out at least six or seven times, and more than a couple of those were either in early innings or late with a short bench. His temper has put the Nats in a lot of bad positions.

Who wants Harper back in 2019 and beyond, honestly ?

Some team is gonna throw a buttload (not as much as they would he he hadn't tanked this season, but hey...) of money at him this offseason.

For my part, I'd prefer it to be another team that pays him $30+ mill a year for the next decade as opposed to the Nats doing it.

He's a really good player.  Potentially great.

But I'd rather root against him in another uniform than have the Nats outbid every other team for his services.

My humble opinion.

You'd rather see the $30 million go to other recruits?

I do. Imagine an outfield of Soto, Robles, Harper. Unlimited potential.

Just on the top of his head. No knowledge of anything else.
