What to trade for?  Nothing.  If we can't hit with the talent we have, nothing we add is going to help. Whoever we obtain no matter how good will instantly stop hitting and we will have wasted prospects.  Seriously, adding offense to this lineup is a waste of resources.  The lineup either starts living up to its potential ... or it doesn't.

I agree with The D.

Yes, aside from catcher, you have to just hope that the other guys hit the way they're capable.  If we can give up mediocre prospects for Ramos and what we gave for Herrera, that is something I'd do.

Mets "will listen to offers" for deGrom and Syndergaard. deGrom has 2 years of control left. Thor has 3. Would you include a guy like Robles or Soto (plus more top prospects...) for one of them?

Honestly, no.

Syndergaard seems to get hurt a lot. I have a feeling that despite being built like a brick house, throwing that hard simply isn't made for longevity.

deGrom is having an amazing career year. But he's also 30 and 7 years removed from TJS. At some point, and I would think soon, he's going to have come back down to Earth.

So even if they were willing to deal them to the Nationals, I definitely am not willing to give up Soto based on what I've seen this season. And I'm likely not willing to do it for Robles.

Either Chris Archer or Blake Snell, Wilson Ramos, and (maybe) a lefty reliever to the Nationals for Carter Keiboom, Pedro Severino or Spencer Keiboom or Raudy Reed (their choice), Jefry Rodrigez, and  Will Crowe (Sammy Solis and another minor leaguer if they find a lefty reliever worth dealing)

Agreed.  I don't think we move Soto, Robles or Keiboom.  Those guys are the core of this team for the next 5 years or so.

Eh, I'd move Keiboom in a heartbeat.

I don't think he cares. Probably both.

I'd like to see Carter before we move him, personally.

I don't think he cares. Probably both.

I heavily doubt that a trade of that magnitude would occur between division rivals.

Yes. Frankly Soto's performance gives him a little boost because they may think they can catch lightening twice.

Totally agree. But it's interesting to speculate, no?

This is plausible (but what the hell do I know) if Ramos is a rental for this year (I thin Archer is?). What's his contract situation?

Signed through 19 with team options for 20 and 21. Really team friendly deal, actually

Hell yes, for deGrom. Syndergaard, probably.

DC United just signed Rooney so Nats have to get Trout.

Then I doubt the Rays make that deal.

Dont want Archer or Snell. Snell is alot like Gio. He walks sooo many guys and gets out of it. Career 150BB in 319.2 IP. Archer I would like more but he has not pitched well in 2 years.

You mean the same Gio we got 21.3 WAR out of in 6 seasons?

The Rays aren't going to just dump a stud young pitching talent like Snell that hasn't even hit arbitration yet anyway.  Archer is a guy they'd trade.

yes and he has worse walk problems than Gio ever had. 1BB for every 2 innings is too much.

Probably right, but I'd at least think about a Snell / Ramos / bullpen help for Robles kind of deal if I knew a bit more about Bryce's future.

I guess if he’s 45 and still wants to play. That’s about the equivalent

I would do cartwheels if we got him.  You know another lefty who had major control problems when he first came up?  Kershaw.  Snell is in his first full season in the rotation.  His walks per 9 are down from 5.16 as a rookie to 3.55.  His ERA is 2.31 and he's won 10 games for a crap team.  Over 10 ks per 9.  1.04 WHIP.  He's still just 25.  Dude is a stud.
