Not sure how much I buy this arguement. Remember last year when Doug Fister had an absurdly low ERA, despite a 5.38 k/9 rate? Wacha is currently at 5.46 k/9. I don't buy that Fister was amazing last year simply because of defense. He makes quality pitches. Greg Maddux had a career K/9 rate of 6.1. Did he win multiple Cy Youngs and get to the HoF because of defense?

Wacha is a great pitcher. His strikeouts will increase over the course of the season.

I think he's a great pitcher but his strikeout totals should increase. He was at ~7 K/9 last year. Time will tell if he's a great pitcher without the strikeouts. I'm just saying that it may be sustainable as there are pitchers who have done it in the past consistently.

See, that BABIP shows he's just being lucky.  If the outfielders would be properly positioned, like say 6-10 rows back of the field, lots of those shots would be caught.
