We put it in the bank for the inevitable 10 year, $360 million Bryce Harper deal I would imagine.

Let's he honest. He is as good as gone. He is going to be a Yankee. For Pete's Sake, his walk up music is Frank Sinatra. I am shocked he doesn't have "Start Spreading the News" as his walkup song. I love Frank Sinatra, but you get my point.

I hope he stays, but I doubt it happens.

Where is the Harper Is A Bust crew now?

When 18 executives and managers were polled in March and asked to choose 3 players with which to start a team, Harper did not get one of the 54 votes.

Didn't his peers vote him "over rated"?

Why is that shocking? Harper has been a decent player but nothing like he has been this year. If they did that poll again next March Harper would get more than his share of votes.

If the Nats continue to put highly competitive teams on the field and give him a competitive offer they have a pretty good shot at keeping him.

Washington DC is a world class city. Not like the Nats are trying to keep him in Arizona or Milwaukee.

Also helps the Nats have a good relationship with Boras.

Why do you keep believing that we have a good shot at him. It's only going to hurt worse in the end.

I don't think it's shocking, but Kris Bryant and Blake Swihart were on the list.

None of the best players in the game are in New York

That's not a thing anymore

DC has just as good a shot as any of keeping Bryce

I'm guessing that's where the #overhated tag came from.

Because he is undoubtedly the only player Lerner will break the ENTIRE bank for.  He's the face of the franchise, one of the most recognizable names in sports.  Lerner lets him walk and you're back to getting Marlins-level attendance until the next great prospect drops into the Nats hands.  I doubt Ted Lerner, bless his soul, lives to see that.

Scherzer didn't break the bank?

Not for proration over an additional 7 years.  Nats more or less paid market value when you account for NPV.

He is unbelievably good right now.  As in, I literally am struggling to believe he has done what he has done to this point of the season.

I really think Bryce wants to be a one-team player like he said at the very beginning.  If we give him the appropriate megadeal, I believe he stays.  I would also say we should start working on that soon.

I felt the same watching the game today, just in awe of his play right now.  I'm super happy not just for our team but for him, it's just so nice to see someone starting to reach their potential.

Currenty leads the NL in BB, HR, R, RBI (tied with Stanton), SLG, OPS, OPS+, and even games played and plate appearances.  Way to go Bryce!
