Anyone remember Pick Temple?

I do . I think he lived off of East West Hwy in Chevy Chase.

Did you see him as a kid?

for the longest time growing up I never realized he was a former player, he was always the voice of the Mets.

I vaguely remember him playing in Pittsburgh.   He left around 1953.   I never saw him in person.     One of the earlier posts in another thread mentioned very little TV coverage back then.    So I'm not sure I ever saw him on TV either.    However, all the young kids knew who he was.   He was a Pirates' legend.   So much so that to this day, I never ever think of him as a Mets' broadcaster.

If ya wanna see how I remember Kiner in Pittsburgh, watch the original "Angels in the Outfield" (1951).    Much of it was filmed at old Forbes Field and Kiner was in the movie.      Which, by the way, was before any production of "Damn Yankees".    ;)    My goodness I sound like "welch".   :P

Baseball guy Jim Fregosi

Jim Fregosi was the 1 in the Angels/Mets 4-for-1 trade where the Mets got Fregosi and the Angels got Nolan Ryan AND 3 other players ( Frank Estrada, Don Rose, and Leroy Stanton).

Diverticulitis is a cruel mistress.  I'm really bummed.  He was always my favorite ghostbuster and I loved everything he directed.  Truly a great one has been lost.

My favorite Ramis clip:

and from the same movie:

I've always been kind of a pacifist. When I was a kid, my father told me, "Never hit anyone in anger, unless you're absolutely sure you can get away with it." I don't know what kind of soldier I'm gonna make, but I want you guys to know that if we ever get into really heavy combat... I'll be right behind you guys. Every step of the way.
