It's all relative.

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.

His journeyman playing career ended in 1965, but Zimmer's time in the game was just beginning; he was a coach and player his final two seasons with the Washington Senators, starting him on a path that would make the jowly-cheeked coach a baseball lifer.

I find it strange that within the next 20 or so years you're going to see the last WWII vet pass (figure the youngest vet right now is probably mid to late 80s- teenager enlisting in 1945). You have to wonder what will happen to the collective memory when that happens

my father in law died a few years ago at 92, he went over to Europe at DDay+7, and absolutely never wanted to talk about what he saw the rest of the way.

Bob Welch has passed away at a too-young age 57.  One of my earliest baseball memories was when he faced off against Reggie Jackson in the 1978 World Series.

...   and Bob writes from Idaho Falls, "What was Jay, of Jay the Techniques, real name?"

"Well, Bob, Jay Proctor was raised in   ...  "

He was a classic radio personality.

Tony Gwynn

that really really sucks.  Way too soon.  Maybe some good comes of it and others get off the snuff/chewing tobacco.
