A Center For Disease Control study says 9 of 10 people who drink excessively are not alcoholics.  I'll drink to that.

Phew, that's good to know.

Bob Brewer, who heads the CDC's Alcohol Program in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.

Brewer said there are certain strategies that help reduce excessive drinking, such as increasing the price of alcohol and considering the geographic concentration of liquor licenses.

On recommendation of my neighbor from Wisconsin, picked up some Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter.     Should I open it?    :P

Did you buy it to be a decoration? Like the "nice" towels on the towel rack in your bathroom?

 :hysterical:

Hell no !!    It tastes a little like Oak Barrel Stout from Dominion though not as heavy.    Must be the vanilla beans in the brew.

BTW   I don't have towels on the rack in the bathroom.   They're hanging on the door.    :)

And yet Budweiser has steadily increased overseas market share, significantly so in Europe (to the point where they now advertise heavily in football and hockey stadiums in countries like England, Belgium, and Germany).  The 'Murrica branding sells well, and bud isn't qualitatively too far removed from many of the local mass-market lagers (indeed, the best-selling beer in the Land of Beer, Belgium, is Jupiler, a light pissy lager).

Full disclosure: I don't mind Bud. You hopheads can eat my damned shorts if you have a problem with that

I'm with ya.    Oh, I like my Leinies, Dominion and some of the other stuff I find around at the local stores.     However, after every round of golf, I sit down and have a couple of Buds.    I don't have it in the house but man it's good after doing some work.

After a long bike ride in August, an imperial IPA is about as appealing as a tumbler of warm creme de menthe or a doritos & mountain dew smoothie

Something like Schlafly Kolsch or Leinie's Summer Shandy does the trick on a hot summer day.

Not sure why (too citrus-y?) but I'm not a fan of the Summer Shandy.    Now, see what ya did?    I gotta go to Wegmans to buy some Leinie's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter.    :)

I've always viewed Bud as a solid 6 or a weak 7 on a 10 point scale.  Great in hot weather.  I'll not pay a premium for it, and I have a thing for switching beers each round, but it is fine.  You don't get popular by making something that can't be drunk.

If I'm going down that road, I'd prefer a bud light- less taste is a good thing when it comes to bud

There really is no difference when it comes to macro lagers. Pretty much go as cheap as possible or second cheapest just to be safe. I also choose beers that don't pollute sports with crappy commercials. Natty Bo, natty light, pbr, old milwaukee, high life, Busch. I try to avoid ones that are step children to the big companies but it is tough. At least I am not rewarding them for advertising a brand

Yeah, it's half lemonade.

If you like Snowdrift, you should see if you can get your hands on the vanilla porter by Breckenridge some time.  Good crap.

Bleh.  I can tolerate regular Bud in a pinch, but light beer is so bad.  It just has this essence of highly diluted rubbing alcohol, whereas at least the regular beer tastes something like beer (albeit usually very skunky).

I'll give it a try.   Thanks for the heads up.   As to the Lite beer.    One is better off not drinking at all as to drinking that p*** (unless it's the $5 stuff they cell under the scoreboard during pre-game Nats).    :)

Buddy and I always lived by the rule, "Start with the good stuff.    After awhile, switch.    By that time, it won't matter and it's cheaper."     However, now that I'm older and more mature, I stick with what I like, costs be damned.

Denny's?  Nah, you gotta get the country fried steak with seasoned fries and a bowl of ranch.  nag, what's this little ramekin bullcrap?  I said a bowl

Consume while smoking a pack of cigarettes and drinking an entire pot of coffee.  Head home about 3 am with the Walmart spoils.  Ah, those were the good years.
