I like Gruden so far, but then again I liked Shanny after his introductory press conference. Time will tell. Hopefully he does more of this and lets the players know who runs the show.

Lynch had 28 carries for 140 yards against one of the best defenses in the NFL who knew Wilson didn't have any legit receiving options.

Eh, IDK. I had no problem with his run calls, but when he dialed up pass plays they all looked sloppy. Didn't understand going with play action late in the 4th either. Also, 0 completions during the entire 3rd quarter was pretty bad. Got away from running the ball in 3rd and short situations as well, which didn't make sense since Lynch was the only offensive player producing.

Bruce Allen was 53 when hired in late 2009, so he's 57 now.

He can dial up the plays but he can't run them. Personally, I wish we'd have signed him or the 49ers OC but who knows.

The Jets are losing their special teams coordinator, Ben Kotwica, after just one season.


Kotwica will take the same job with the Washington Redskins, who publicly confirmed the hire, which was first reported by Fox Sports... Under Kotwica, the Jets had a so-so year on special teams, with their biggest area of strength being kickoff coverage. They finished 27th in the NFL in net punting, 24th in opposing net punting, 18th in kickoff returns, 16th in punt returns, 11th in opposing kickoff returns and 27th in opposing punt returns.

But kicker Nick Folk did credit Kotwica with allowing him to cut back on the volume of field goals he kicked in practice. Folk said this helped keep him fresh later in the season. Kotwica’s predecessor, Mike Westhoff, wanted Folk to kick a lot more in practice. Folk this season made a career-best 91.7 percent of his field goals (33 of 36).

Kotwica in 2013 replaced Westhoff, a special teams pioneer who retired after the 2012 season. Westhoff had coordinated the Jets’ special teams since 2001. In December, Kotwica interviewed for the head coaching position at Army, his alma mater, but the school hired Georgia Southern head coach Jeff Monken. Kotwica was the Jets’ assistant special teams coordinator from 2009-12 and a quality control coach for defense and special teams from 2007-08.

Salaries paid to coaches do not affect the NFL salary cap.  Dan Snyder is willing to pay to improve.

There was talk all season about Rex Ryan getting fired as the Jets head coach, which usually means that the assistant coaches get fired too. So the move to the Redskins may have meant more money and maybe more job security.

I guess. But normally when you're successful in the NFL as a coach, you get a pay raise and a promotion.

not special teams coordinators - not many become head coaches,and only a few shift to OC or aDC. Its a 32 team league, there are only so many available jobs
