I bet the Lerners charge free agents for sit down meetings.  And make them pick up the tab at dinners.

Olney said one exec believes one of Washington, Texas or Chicago ends up with Fielder on a 6-year deal, 22-24 million a year, with an opt-out clause after 3 years. That'd be perfect for me.

I'd go 25-26 million to just get the deal locked down.

Can't be Chicago... unless they've soured on Rizzo in the last few days without having him even taken an at-bat.

Bob Nightengale @BNightengale 6m

Breaking: The Texas #Rangers are meeting today with Prince Fielder at Dallas-area hotel. Stay tuned #mlb

So what do we get for 2nd place? Maybe Cecil will do the mini-FanFest...

It would be perfect for the Nats, which is why it won't happen.  Who would you choose between the Rangers and Nationals if the terms were the same?  This is the scenario that scares me the most, because it's back on the fair market thing.  If they're in the market for Fielder on the same terms as the Rangers, they aren't in the market at all.

Hard to say for certain as D.C. may very well be a much more welcoming place than Texas for Fielder.

I never thought I'd say this but I wish Dan Snyder owned the Nats.

You can call him many things but cheap isn't one of them.

It'd be a sight to behold for Fielder to be playing in that Texas heat.

I take it you are either from Texas or never been to Texas. Some people simply won't go there.

Yes it is.

No schemes, no learning... just playing ball.

High priced teams usually win in MLB.
