Boras is still asking for 10 years, apparently.

I've talked myself into being happy with a 7 year deal, even if the last couple of years might get ugly.  I don't want him if it takes any more than 7 years.

How is Tyler Moore progressing? Assuming Prince signs elsewhere, could Moore be ready for the majors by 2013?

Sure.

he had a hell of a  year at Harrisburg, he's going to quickly move past Marrero on the prospect chart if he keeps it up:

561PAs: .270  / .314 / .532 with 31HRs.  139Ks, 30BB.

I expect where he starts depends on Marrero's leg, if Marrero is healthy then Moore will be at Harrisburg.  Kerr reported last fall that there was some talk of moving Moore to the OF because Marrero is blocking him at 1st.

only for an AL team would 10 years make sense since he could DH for the last 5 years or so.

I know that rumors are rumors but it still pisses me off that articles that say we aren't going after [So and So player] give financial excuses not too. This could probably be posturing by both sides but its not cool after waiting so long that one morning you see the reason "Our budget" as why they won't sign someone like Prince.

Moore is going to be in AAA regardless of Marrero's leg.

Plus, Marrero won't be ready till mid-season anyways.

Having said that, neither is anything but a 1B. Both are slow and cannot play the OF.

Both are very flawed prospects. Moore is more a Russ Braynan lite type and Marrero is... well... a mystery... but likely someone like Casey Kotchman. I don't see either ever being a starter for an MLB team.

Had that last week, and nothing works.  Nothing!  Don't bother with Dayquil, Theraflu daytime, anything daytime period, they're completely worthless.  Take some Nyquil at night and at least get a good night's sleep.

Yep, I just bought some because I was up all night and I've got to get some sleep because I'm running this conference and I can't leave and go back to bed :(

Hopefully I'll sleep tonight with the Nyquill

lol...leaving a 1% chance of him signing. i'm not saying this is definitely a posturing move by the Nats, but it sure raises my suspicion level. Something tells me Ted Lerner is none to pleased that Boras appears to be holding onto hope that the Rangers will fail to sign Darvish and instead make a late run at Prince.

Ladson's article is really, really misleading. (or just confusing, or just really vague)

Quote
Headline: Nationals unlikely to sign Prince at current price

There is a "99 percent" chance that the Nationals will not sign free-agent first baseman Prince Fielder, according to a baseball source.

He then goes on to say that the Nats need Prince's price to come down for us to sign him. OK, but what if Prince's price does come down? Once Texas signs Darvish, they're out, and no one is going to give Fielder Pujols money because no one needs a first baseman who has money to spend. Right now, Boras may be asking for the moon, but as the market continues to shrink, that price has to come down.

I still think that once Texas signs Darvish that we'll get creative with Boras and work out a deal.

Is there a 99 percent chance we won't sign him at all, or a 99 percent chance we won't sign him at his current price? Is there no price he could give us that would work? So many questions I have.

Exactly
This just says what we already know. Boras is asking for the moon and unless he's willing to come down on his demands, the Nats will not play ball with them.

The title pretty much says it all: "Nationals unlikely to sign Prince at current price"

So, since this Prince thread has become a compendium of - yeah, just about everything -  I have the crappiest head cold, any remedies anyone?

Take Alka Seltzer cold then wait 10 days and it will eventually go away.

Well I understand the excuse for saying "our budget" could be destroyed but it would only make sense if it actually would. If they actually believed that then they are whacked.
