Ladson's article is really, really misleading. (or just confusing, or just really vague)
Headline: Nationals unlikely to sign Prince at current price
There is a "99 percent" chance that the Nationals will not sign free-agent first baseman Prince Fielder, according to a baseball source.
He then goes on to say that the Nats need Prince's price to come down for us to sign him. OK, but what if Prince's price
does come down? Once Texas signs Darvish, they're out, and no one is going to give Fielder Pujols money because no one needs a first baseman who has money to spend. Right now, Boras may be asking for the moon, but as the market continues to shrink, that price has to come down.
I still think that once Texas signs Darvish that we'll get creative with Boras and work out a deal.
Is there a 99 percent chance we won't sign him at all, or a 99 percent chance we won't sign him at his current price? Is there no price he could give us that would work? So many questions I have.
