Figure at least $15 mill for Bourn or Upton.  $17 for Werth.  $20 for Zimm.  $25 for Fielder.

That's an average of $19.25 mill per player.  $77 mill a year for four players.

Then Strasburg comes up for arbitration or extension...

I think Morse or someone else gets traded for a CF before this happens.  Or they just wait for one of their CF prospects.  Or they let Zim go.

No way they spend $80 mil on 4 guys.

One of their guys (either Pollin or Thom- they sound alike to me) wants to pass, move Zimm to first and call up Rendon this year because he's as old as Zimm was when he was called up, and a better hitting prospect therefore he's ready

Zim at 1B is a waste.  I'd rather they trade him than play him at 1B.  His bat there is just good, not great.  His career OPS isn't much better than LaRoche.

Gibbs accused him of "bad hands"

That's why we give him a glove :D

I could see us trying to flip Morse to Toronto, Baltimore or Texas if we sign Fielder. I don't see Rizzo planning on using Morse in LF long-term and his value may never be higher. If we can snag a CF or even get some good prospects to help flip for a CF, then it might be a solid plan of action all-around.

I wouldn't mind sending Morse to the Rockies for Dexter Fowler.  I think that's a win-win.  We get a cost-controlled young leadoff CF who plays good defense and gets on base - exactly what we need.  They get The Beast who could lead the league in homers in that stadium.

Who's the late night guy? From 7:00 pm on?  Don't remember his name, but he's not so bad. The other guys ... yeah, not so much.

WJFK has been talking Nats. Mainly Mike Wise and The 7 pm show. But its mainly talk of signing Fielder.

Yeah, which is why I don't see them getting both Fielder and a high priced CF.

And bite your tongue re letting Zimm go.  I'll blow a gasket if that happens.

I am on board with this move. Though his fangraphs UZR isn't good.

Fowler is overrated.  If we trade Morse, I would hope we go in a different direction.

Find someone with good defensive numbers in that centerfield

How are Fowler's numbers that much better than say, Nyjer Morgan?  Fowler has the edge in SLB, but Morgan is a better base stealer, has better defensive metrics.   OBP is close.

I'll give Fowler that.

Fowler struck out 66/210 ABs before they sent him down in June.  That's on par with Adam Dunn or Mark Reynolds over a whole season.

Point being that Nyjer would probably still be here if he weren't bat crap crazy. I don't particularly want Fowler either.

Is Dexter Fowler really the best potential CF option?

Dexter Fowler had the 4th worst UZR in all of MLB over the last few seasons.

So that's a no.  Can't to see who we don't sign in 2013.

I'd want more than just Fowler. Fowler and a prospect or two and I'm really interested.

I want Peter Borjous and have for a while. But the Angels have nowhere to put Morse. And we don't have anything to give to the Yankees for Gardner.

Who else is there?

I think some of you are underestimating how great an area it is in the outfield in Coors Field. 415 to.center, 390 to left center, and 375 to right center. Carlos Gonzalez and Eric Young have negative UZRs in CF there too.
