Would be crazy to see them go from 60's in 2010 payroll to 120 in 2012.
their new TV deal alone brings in $80 million per, so not that crazyhttp://www.dallasnews.com/sports/texas-rangers/headlines/20100927-Rangers-new-20-year-2344.ece
Crazy as in, awesome that the ownership is willing to support the team in such a strong way.
I love JimBo on the radio.
It's really too bad the Lerners aren't likely to go bankrupt any time soon.
This is an interesting listen. http://siriusxmsports.posterous.com/jim-bowden-host-of-inside-pitch-on-mlb-networ
OMG. Jim says that the Team runs everything big through a Board of Directors.... that sounds like a mess.
Well it's not a rumor any longer.
I figured everyone accepted it as facts a long time ago, maybe not?
That news came out in 2007. The GM needs to put together a business case for all moves.
PS - some useful contributions recently from a few of the newer posters!
If I was a GM, I think I'd just want to know what my budget was for the next 5 years or so and then be free to operate within those parameters....
Check out what they are saying in Taiwan re Fielder:http://www.natsenquirer.com
Prince big or Werth big, I would hope so- those are $100 million plus decisions that will be on the books for the better part of a decade. Forbes has the team valued at $417 million, so you're talking about a contract worth more than a quarter of the entire franchise. If he means Gio trade big, that's another issue
