The rest of your post I tend to agree with, but this is patently false. The NFL airs games where this takes place on a weekly basis. The last time I watched the NBA (admittedly it was over 20 years ago) I always saw teams "running out the clock." It happens nightly in hockey.
The difference is that those game limits are decided by a clock, not a pre determined amountof innings. After seeing us lose that 9-0 lead and the game a while back, I don't feel it's ever a good time to ease up. This isn't T-ball, we don't give out participation trophies, we earn pennants and rings. If you want a 6 run mercy rule, take your ass back to the sandlot.
