No, the astros wanted minor leagueres

Yesterday is was reported that they wanted major leaguers for Bourn to make up for the very young minor leaguers they got for Pence.

Yeah, that would make no sense. The Astros are in total rebuild, they need minor league players

Damnit. Bourn was so perfect. At least the Braves will still get pwnt by lefties.

freak the Twins. They're trying to get us to bend over so they can feel better about the Capps trade. Let's just go trade for Bourjos and call it a fun day.

thirded.

I'm not a big fan of trades in general, they are double the risk of signing a free agent.  Signing a guy in the off-season is risky if they don't play up to expectations, but at least the monetary value paid for them is set.  Trading for a player bears the same risk of under-performance, but also includes the risk of giving up a player whose value increases.

the risk with free agents is a ton of guys get resigned early so your pool is largely journeymen looking for one year deals and old players who are at their peak but want long term deals. The exception is the young guy like Teix who manages to make it through young enough to still be productive though a long term deal. I hate the proposed span trade, but finding a center fielder in free agency likely yields you a rick ankiel type player

Besides, the prospects they got from the Phillthies and Braves are probably better than the starters they currently trot out.

Bourjos is fun to say, but so is Denard Dog. I'll take either.

They're not crazy, they're certifiable. Ubaldo has lost velocity and Colorado refused a physical? I mean Good Gawd! If it had been me, it wouldn't be a no, that would be a hell no!

not to mention colorado isn't in full sell mode, they are just shopping their 'ace' who has a very team friendly contract. that would be like us just shopping Zimmermann next year

Yeah, just swapping Pomeranz alone for Ubaldo seems like a steal for Colorado.  Did you see the numbers he's putting up at A?

He came in with a 3 run lead and left with a 3 run lead, what more do people want?

Apparently "wins" don't matter.  :?
