on the 40-man

Don't get me started on that!  There are more than enough players who could be moved off the 40-man (Adam LaRoche and Cole Kimball, just because they're already out for the season) if they wanted to purchase a contract.

Anyway, he's MUCH better against lefties, (DUH) than righties.  Davey had better use him right, ie as ONLY a lefty specialist.  NO RIGHTIES, DAVEY!

I would have rather taken Mock off the 40 man and called up Wilkie. Severino has a good arm but he has struggled.

Atahualupa Severino here on call. Hearing it's likely for Todd Coffey trade. Announcement should be coming soon.

I wonder what on earth we could possibly get for the Coffey machine.

Are we sure it's not Burnett? Does the team need 4 lefties in the pen?

Burnett's contract makes him tougher to move than Coffey

Davey's head is going to explode trying to do matchups with Detwiler, Severino, Gorzo, and Burnett.

Its probably a short term thing. Just someone to get through the day, or next couple days.

As for the Storen trade, it;s a joke to speak like every outlet is calling the Nationals out for not making a Storen for Span trade. Nobody has criticized them. It's just the people here that cry about everything that are criticizing it.

Not the media, but Ive spoken to plenty of people that don't have any affiliation to the Nats or Twins and they say the Nationals would be stupid for making a Storen for Span trade. Not that that makes a difference either way, but the popular opinion is NOT that the Nationals are idiots for not making the trade.

Well if Severino is "on call" or whatever that would suggest that if it's not Coffey it is somebody.

Maya was sent down to AAA and they called up Severino. That could be the move.

If true, good job to get something in return for Coffey.

Happy about what we got for Hairston, not happy with the results for Marquis.  We could have gotten a lot more for him and panicked too early.

Maya is supposed to go on DL for oblique strain.  Severino could be filling in until they call up a starter.

Jimbo in ESPN chat
Quote
Davey is on board. They need a CF. Except for Rivera and Hoffman, most closer have a short shelf life....the Nats have tried to solve CF since they moved to DC. Clippard can close and the bevy of arm coming will help. the Nats baseball people are all on board. This will be a painful deal for them because they all love Storen. But be prepared....it's going down

we know you have a boner for Upton (causing you to ignore reality), but the question is if it's worth giving up substance for Upton when Bernadina can do a lot of what Upton has performed this year.

essentially

is the addition of Upton > losing Bernadina, Desmond, relievers/prospects?

like you have a boner for lombardozzi?  8)

EXACTLY.  +1,000,000.  Most around baseball think trading Storen for Span would be incredibly risky.  I'm glad cooler heads prevailed inside the front office, because this trade could potentially have been a huge mistake for our organization.

Jimbo doesn't think Lombardozzi will be included in the deal, but he can't blame the Twins for holding out for him.

Thank god your posting Hammonds.  I was concerned that you had went missing in Pigtown after the Woes trainwrecks in the Bronx.  Glad to see you're still amongst the living and the LAC crowd! 8)
