Span has been out with a concussion for two months? Is that right? That's a huge red flag as far as I'm concerned.  Never mind that the Twins want way too frickin much for him. I think the Twins are still bitter over Capps/Ramos, not that I blame them per se, but no one forced them to make that trade.

The Nats need to move on from the Twins. The whole thing is starting to really stink.

Her twitter picture doesn't do her justice. She's cute.

I'm no Ladson hater, but I'd trade him and throw in either Zuckerman or Goess to get her into Nats Park on a regular basis.

Latest On Storen/Span Trade Talks
By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 7:59am CST]

Nationals closer Drew Storen is in the Denard Span trade with the Twins, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, but the hangup is over the other players in the deal.  Yesterday we heard names such as Roger Bernadina and Stephen Lombardozzi of the Nationals.

That's too damn much. I hope Rizzo is working something else. Go get Bourn he'll cost prospects, not ML players.

Bernie OK. Not Lombo. He is our future 2B.

That is OK also . I love Storen but I do not think he is a dominating closer. Last night was a good example. I do not have the data to back this up so I assume that this  is a mindfact. Only about 50% of his appearences seem clean. One or less batters getting on.Not as bad as the Chief but not a comforting occurence.

Can't happen. Sounds/looks like they are ready to give up on Desmond, they can't trade Lombo.

I wouldn't puke, I would change my name to kev37 and go bonkers on the Rzo.

Meh, I throw out last night's performance, it was was a very weird situation for him, with the trade deadline and not pitching for a while and the standing O the crowd gave him when he came in. Must have been weird.

Storen is a very good pitcher and he's very young, he's only going to get better IMO. He's a really good dude and he genuinely cares about the Nats and the fans. He can truly be one of those "core" guys.  I hope he stays.

I think I draw the line at Storen and Lombo. I'd pull the trigger straight up (this is all assuming that his medical reports turn out fine), and I would even consider Storen, Berny, and Desmond (although I'd have to consider it strongly). But Lombo is too much.

I don't have the data either, but I think most closers aren't clean every night. Except for someone like Mariano.

He came in with a 3 run lead and left with a 3 run lead, what more do people want?

I'm not a big fan of trades in general, they are double the risk of signing a free agent.  Signing a guy in the off-season is risky if they don't play up to expectations, but at least the monetary value paid for them is set.  Trading for a player bears the same risk of under-performance, but also includes the risk of giving up a player whose value increases.

Braves Acquire Michael Bourn
By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 8:46am CST]

The Braves acquired center fielder Michael Bourn from the Astros for four minor leaguers, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.  He says the deal is done and will be announced shortly.

I thought they wanted major leaguers!

let's see what they gave up.  So far the Phillies gave up to top-50 prospects for Pence.

For us, it keeps coming down to the real lack of depth in our farm system, despite major improvements in the last 2 years.

Damnit. Bourn was so perfect. At least the Braves will still get pwnt by lefties.

freak the Twins. They're trying to get us to bend over so they can feel better about the Capps trade. Let's just go trade for Bourjos and call it a fun day.
