So we traded Marquis for a minor leaguer, and Hairston for a minor leaguer, right?

Knowing absolutely nothing about it beyond that, my reaction = :?

Neither of these guys were going to net MLB ready talent.

It sucks losing Hairston, though.

I tend to agree. I would trade one of the likes of Norris, Moore, Marrero, etc before I would give up Drew. But then again the Twins probably don't make that deal.
I'd think Norris would be a piece that could be put in the deal to get them to back down from Storen.   At some point, Mauer does not catch, and Butera et al are not every day players.

I amended posted a follow up to this post, referencing this. ...and I"m quite sober and fully know what the freak I'm talking about.

Thanks for nothing, though.
My apologies. I'm just working through the thread.  I've pulled my mistake. Again, I'm sorry.

Not a problem.  I removed my too.  I'm in a bad mood, needless to say.

If we could get them onto Norris, I'd make that trade RIGHT NOW!

1. Bourn
2. Lombardozzi
3. Zimmerman
4. Nix
5. Morse
6. Espinosa
7. Werth
8. Ramos

Omg yezzir.  Unleash the fury.

Replace Nix with Bryce Harper next year or the year after.

Oh. My. Strasburg.
No one else got the hots for that lineup!?!?!?

It does for me! I think Span/Bourn/Upton at the top of that would get me hot. I just don't trust what we have to fill in at CF. I also don't see any players capable of leading off either.

They're pretty solid minor leaguers. The Hairston deal was especially good for us. And we weren't going to get compensation for Marquis anyway, so this was a good deal.

They can do something that no one on the team can - hit

That lineup would unleash the fury on people. Also realize that lineup at no point has two batters in order who bat from the same side. It would do damage to bullpens late to games. If we had a solid 4th out fielder and a benchie with some pop, ruh roh. That's a winning lineup.

The Jimenez trade weirds me out. He was dominant last year but had a huge workload and went downhill to a certain extent. This year... 4.20 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 6-9 record. But what really makes me wonder is that Colorado made him available. Why? If they think he's at peak value that would really concern me as a suitor.

There's like a 3.5 hour long version if it wasn't long enough for you.

And holy crap, I forgot about Rendon.

How did we get such seemingly decent prospects for Hairston and Marquis and complete and utter garbage (Cutter Dykstra) for Morgan at the beginning of the season?

Morgan at that time was coming off a horrible season, horrible spring training, and had major perceived character issues. It was also not at the deadline, so teams weren't desperate for that last piece.

Morgan is a Eurobird flipping head job. Only a few folks will tolerate that for performance and only than at a discount.

Jerry Hairston and Jason Marquis are good citizens.

Whiff meaning get nothing done? I think we had a decent day, and I think odds are something gets done for a CF. Do we have anyone else that absolutely needs to get moved (like Marquis)?

Morse in LF and Laroch at first. Laroch can hit when healthy.

Just speculation, but perhaps these two minor leaguers could be flipped.  They play two positions that we are talking about trading - Mi and CF.   They are not MLB ready, but for teams looking for depth, they may have value.

Who knows with Rizzo, but it sure sounds like his priority.
