Pudge should not be allowed to swing

it doesn't matter, pudge.  jerry is awful with a man on 3rd and less than two outs.

I completely forgot Pudge was batting... and here I was thinking we'd avoid the DP.

yes because his performance is significantly altered by something not only out of his control but completely independent of the at-bat itself.

That DP is why Hairston should be hitting in front of Pudge

Just seeing Jerry Hairston's ugly mug makes me want to punch him in the face.

i'm just saying hairston has been awful with runner on 3rd go look it up.

and if you think i was really sticking up for pudge there, you need to get yourself checked.

Man on 3rd with 2 outs, I'd agree.  Man on 3rd with less than 2 outs, I disagree.  You're going to pitch differently if a reasonably deep fly brings in a run, unless perhaps you have a ridiculous lead.

God, it's like the more runners we get on the bases the worse the results are.

Lately every time we get multiple runners on and no outs we don't score any. :? Let alone not getting many big innings, but many times we don't even get 1 run which is killer as all these games have usually gone down to 1 run.

my point is that hairston doesn't control whether there's a guy on third or not, it doesn't really have any bearing on the at-bat, and thus that's more likely to be a fluke than anything else.

and i never said you were sticking up for pudge. my point was in your assertion that it wouldn't matter anyway...

Then splooge.

AZ would reemerge out of nowhere to remind us of Dukes' greatness, his All Star debut, HR derby championship and NL MVP awards.

Okay, so if this is true, then wouldn't Hairston have an advantage? He knows where the pitcher can't pitch... not only does it not make sense logically, I guarantee you that over a larger sample, it proves to be relatively insignificant.

this. correlation does not imply causation (especially weak correlation).
