Been thinking about something (Probably a long way off...): What do we do with Rendon? Obviously, third base is blocked, as presumably is first with Morse. He couldn't play catcher, and CF is blocked by Harper, RF by Werth. Presumably the team doesn't put up with Desmond for much longer and moves Espinosa to SS. In that case, one of Antonelli and Lombardozzi get the call to play second, clogging that position. That leaves LF- where does Rendon play?

You don't worry about that. Let him play 3B and then figure it out when the situation dictates. I figure the Nats will start him off at 3B (in instructionals since odds are likely he does not play at all in 2011).

agreed, as usual.

he's close to the majors but that doesn't mean he'll be up next year or anything.  you start him off @ 3B and then let him get some innings @ 2B/1B/LF/wherever down the road.

Multi-Homer Game for Kevin Keyes, second one being a walk-off dinger, Dude has some serious-serious power.

Multi-Homer Game for Kevin Keyes, second one being a walk-off dinger, Dude has some serious-serious power.

Keyes and Taylor have been on fire since the start of the second half.  Taylor and Keyes both homered in the 8th inning with the Suns down 1-3, and later Keyes hit the game winner in the 14th.  Apparently Keyes first home run was simply a defensive swing that ended up a in the stands.

Quote
The Suns got one run back against Biddle in the second as Keyes hit a high, towering homer to right on a 3-2 pitch with two outs, that he kind of flicked at with a defensive swing.

“Strong man,” Daubach said. “He has been working a lot with (hitting coach Marlon Anderson) and he has quieted his leg kick. He has been outstanding. It has been fun to watch.”

Quote
And it has in the first six games. Keyes has hit five home runs in the second half while Taylor is 10-for-23 (.435) with two homers and five RBIs to help Hagerstown (44-32) to a 4-2 start in the second half.

So i was going through the harrisburg senators youtube page and i found out that Shairon Martis hit 94MPH in the 8th inning, while throwing a 8inning shutout. This comes to me as a shock because i remember him usually sitting at 89-91 in the Majors. Here is the video. http://www.youtube.com/user/senatorsbaseball#p/u/12/uIZdCyMllgc

Wow! Even better is that glorious curveball. Hope that guy is on the path back. He does still have a year or so before he reaches the spoprtsfan age threshold of "not a prospect."

He's one of those guys that probably got called up too early because we had no other options...

Glad Linty is at tonight's game. I really want to hear him on Peacock, and also want to hear why the Richmond starter pitched a perfect first inning and then got pulled (?).

on the third norris passed ball of the night:

[linty] it's all peacock's fault.  norris is so much better than this league.  he's the best major leaguer already.  [/linty]

Brad Peacock has struck out four guys in six batters. Three of the Ks swinging. No baserunners for either team yet.

yup.  i really want to get a look at this guy soon and so we can see if he has a place in the future 'tation with the likes of strasburg/jz.  (i really think cole is a definite too)  you know what the beauty of that possible rotation is?  they all can throw at least 95 with a hard dynamite breaking pitch.

Peacock allows a leadoff walk in the third, strikes out the next guy after starting 2-0, gets out of the inning. No hits, no runs, 5Ks, 45 pitches after 3.

hammonds, I agree Peacock is a major part of the 2012 rotation conversation at this point. The guy looks legit on paper. Really looking forward to reading Linty's report when I wake up tomorrow.

Maya started in Syr. tonight.  This is his sixth inning.

Quote
Brian Friday homers (1) on a fly ball to left field.
John Bowker singles on a ground ball to left fielder Gregor Blanco.
Matt Hague grounds out, third baseman Tug Hulett to first baseman Chris Marrero. John Bowker to 2nd.
Andy Marte walks.
Miles Durham triples (2) on a fly ball to center fielder Rick Ankiel. John Bowker scores. Andy Marte scores.
Miguel Perez called out on strikes.
Gorkys Hernandez hits a ground-rule double (14) on a fly ball to left field. Miles Durham scores.
Offensive Substitution: Pinch hitter Corey Wimberly replaces Sean Gallagher.
Corey Wimberly pops out to third baseman Tug Hulett.

Up until the 6th inning, he'd given up ZERO runs.  It's almost as if he TRIES to implode at the same point in every game!

Kevin Keyes guy is impressive, Went 1-1 today with a double, and 3 walks. Past 10 games(not including tonight) he's hitting .324/.375/.946 , OPS at 1.321.

Lombardozzi 1-3, 2B
Antonelli 2-4, 2 RBI, Hit streak to 11 games.

Can we just bring-up Antonelli and cut Desmond already?

Kevin Keyes is a beast.  Only has 21 hits in 93 at bats but among those hits, 15 went for extra bases (8 hr, 7 2b).  Seems like he's able to draw a walk, too - 11 walks against 26 k's.

Legit prospect finally showing what he can do. Was pretty highly regarded coming out of University of Texas.
