Riggs is determined to force Desmond into a utility player isn't he? Just moved him from SS to RF.

Ugh. He's not an OF'er! He's a SS!

True, but from what I've noticed, our bats are seldom ever a big problem. It's out defense that keeps us in the crapper.

I think if that was the case we wouldn't be losing 100 games in two seasons. They have pop but it either goes dead for long spells or they turn it on a little too late during games. This whole team needs work.

Nats lose. 11-8. Ian Desmond definitely the star of the game for the Nats. Tyler Clippard the only pitcher that looks like he could be on a major league roster.

who pitched today?

Batista, Stammen, English, Speier, Slaten, Garate and Clippard.

Slaten didn't let up any hits but he walked two. Clippard pitched very well. Everyone else was pretty much crap.

I don't think riggles is trying to force desmond into utility.  I think he REALLY wants him on the 25 man and playing regularly, but nobody in the nats org has the spine to simply say what needed to be said a long time ago:

to hell with cristian guzman.

Was the Doug Slaten appearance everything you had hoped it would be?

Did Nieves catch Slaten?

Did you get that boner?

Garate right back to where he finished the year... getting shelled.

Garate is irrelevant as he's off the 40 man. Obviously they think no more of him and Slaten than they Guardado and Villone.

Stammen had a good inning and the 2B let him down.

I'm disappointed English was so terrible but you don't often get something for nothing (although Martin was good yesterday).

I think the whole offense did fine. I'm liking Duncan's bat and Zim got good wood on a ball.

Looking forward to the reports then. So you should say that no one sounded like a major leaguer, then

Elijah Dukes with a steal is the most interesting thing I saw in the box score. I guess he really did come to camp in shape, good for him. Also Ian Desmond should be our starting shortstop no doubt about it too bad the front office doesn't see that.
