Good news for the No-Cabrera-To-Nats group, which is everyone I think.

Official, Cabrera to Reds. 1 year deal.

scratch one of the Odog list.

I cannot keep Hudson and Cabrera straight. When I read this I thought the Reds signed Hudson. :/

According to Bill Ladson, Jason Marquis and Ivan Rodriguez have weighed in saying they want to play with Orlando Hudson, joining Dunn, Morgan and Zimmerman. Sounds like the players are pressuring the front office to get this one done. Kind of a weird situation.

I can see why. We don't even have a second baseman on the roster :lol

ESPN - The Nationals are close to a deal with free-agent infielder Orlando Hudson, according to Tim Kurkjian of ESPN The Magazine.

The contract would be for $3 million with incentives that could bring its value up to $4 million, according to the report.

If Orlando Hudson is bringing his price down, that's news to #Nats GM Mike Rizzo.

It's possible that Hudson decided today to lower his asking price and just hasn't told Rizzo/Nats yet. We'll see.

also possible that Rizzo made that statement at Noon, and then got a phone call from Hudson's agent at 3. *shrug*

yeah, we'll see how it shakes out.

There's a very perceptive comment on MLBTR: this is the first time that Rizzo has negotiated with a free agent or another team, or with anybody actually, in a public way. There's no element of covertness, or surprise, or whatever this time; it's a very public, protracted, yucky process. Rizzo's first. Rodriguez, Marquis, even Capps to some extent were very quietly handled behind the scenes, as were the trades. That's what makes this Hudson thing so weird.

And if its true what Tim said then freak yea. Get it done. Hudson has the support from 5 of our players. We need a second baseman. Please no Desmond/Guzman. Make it Guzman/Desmond and Hudson. If all goes well we can trade Guzman midway for something!
