Uggla is nowhere near the worst 2B in the game.

Name some that are worse.

Four actually, bottom four.  Of the everyday starting 2b in baseball last year, there were only 3 worse than him.  (Flop was one of them, btw)

Lopez wasn't worse than Uggla last year. Where did you get that from?

if we had a desperate need for offense, i would agree with you, dirtynat.

but as it is, our offense is pretty capable, but our defense is a major issue.

also, isnt Uggla 30? not that much younger than "Hudson's old ass".

halfsmokes - we gotta get uggla into "far from the worst" land.

so keep naming everyday 2B that are worse than uggla. Belliard sure. and who else?

Range-wise, maybe. But that's it. On the overall, Belliard is better.

I was looking at fielding stats earlier and I think Luis Castillo was the only second baseman worse than Uggla.

Defensively he was slightly at least in the main stats.  I couldn't find a place to sort some of those more perifrial stats by league leaders, but for fielding percentage, Zone Rating and Range Factor, Flop was behind Uggla in all of them and near the bottom in all but range factor where he was in the middle of the pack. Uggla was near the bottom too in all but range factor where he was actually among the league leaders, fwiw. This is just for every day 2b from last year, so the list doesn't include guys who might have been hurt or who might have platooned or something else like that.  I don't know what the threashold was for that.

Not that it makes any difference, Flop hates DC.

Are you sure you weren't looking at Felipe's '08 stats?

Fat Ronny is better than Ugla?  What world do you live in?

Yeah, I just noticed I had my ZR and RF switched around.  Either way, they're both pretty bad and I don't want either of them any where near my roster.

Weird.  Fat Ronny isn't even a starter.  Terrible hitter, no defense, no power.

Why does everyone act like the Nats had a real good offense? They don't. They were actually below average last season.

We need to at least hold on to one shred of hope. Stop ruining the delusions we've so carefully built up.

Yeah, they ended up in the bottom ten. I think they were top 10 in the first half.

Because we could have the best power hitter at 2nd base in the league.  Maybe behind Utley.  And a better defensive player than we had last year.  Where is the Uggla hate coming from?  Dude just performs.

they were in the top half in nearly every offensive category until september when Dunn and Willingham nosedived.

gmu - what is the more pressing need? 30 hrs and nothing else from Uggla, or solid defense, a decent avg/obp and 10 hrs from someone else?
