Don't torture yourself, SF.  It's going to take until mid-February for anything else to get done.  The Nats, and the rest of the teams in the MLB, are trying to make these starting pitchers cheaper, so they're holding out and waiting for the pitchers to accept less money.

Doesn't Rizzo know we are fans with needs? We NEED info, or we riot.

I'm sure they are terrified that the dozen or so of us fans paying attention during the off season will riot and burn down the park. Baseball fans are such hoodlums.

When do pitchers and catchers report? I would hope that they do it the week prior to get the new guys oriented to our system (whatever the hell that is )

Doug Davis signed w/ Brewers for $5.25 million.  Good deal for them if you ask me.  Take him off our list.

When we sign Livo again... I'll be pissed. Davis wanted to play for the Nats (hell, any team that would have him) and the Nats said they were too busy at the moment.

I'll be surprised if Davis has a much better season than a hypothetical Livan.

No one left for the Nats but Livan.

Jarrod Washburn is still out there. Don't know if the Nats are interested, though. I think we'd have to offer him two years.

Washburn is a bum that had the fact hidden by Safeco and a tremendous defense. The Nats will look awfully stupid if they sign him.

Truth.

Try to get Garland if a west coast team won't sign him, Padilla, or even Sheets.  Washburn will be terrible.

I don't necessarily want us to get him (just throwing his name out there b/c people seem to think that Livan is our only option now), but Washburn has never been terrible.

The more I think about it, the more I want Ben Sheets in a Nats uniform.  Again, I understand it'd have to be at the right price, but that'd be awesome if we go after him hard.

1-3 with a 7.78 ERA and a WHIP of 1.558, 21/16 K/BB for Detroit last year says otherwise.

And oh yeah, 12 HR's given up in just 43 IP.

Yeah, that was a bad 8 starts, but his season was solid on the overall. Shoot, Johan Santana had a stretch just like that last season. Doesn't mean he's a terrible pitcher.

Washburn isn't a great pitcher, but he is not that bad. He's better than most of our guys.
