that was an okay move. low risk, decent reward. we can never have enough quality relievers considering how bad the pen was last year.

I don't know.  His fielding percentage the past couple of years has really dropped.  Right now, I don't see much difference between the two.

The Nationals have had one of the most active offseasons of any team in baseball, except for maybe the Mariners and Yankees. I only shudder to think of how sportsfan would do if he was a fan of one of the 7 - 7! - major league teams which have yet to sign a single major league free agent this winter. I especially shudder to think of how he'd feel if he were a fan of the Cleveland Indians - since the Winter Meetings, they have added four minor league pitchers (including Saul Rivera) and done absolutely nothing else. That's 0 major league players over 3 weeks. Sportsfan would be approaching Homicidal Maniac Levels!!

I'd say we should trade Guzman, ink Nick Green or some other defense guy for second base, and run with Desmond. Otherwise, trade Guzman after a couple months of Desmond starting every day at AAA again.

Actually, Red Sox fans seem pretty down on Green's defense, from what I see, or at least, based on the stats, it's basically average. But if we can get "basically average" defense from Orlando Hudson, he hits better.

I still think the right way to go is to have, sooner or later, Desmond every day at SS and a defensive expert at 2B.

What about Jed Lowrie?  Could be had for for a cheap price. I seem to remember him playing 2B a bit as well.

Not much else... but if his wrist continually gets hurt; that's the only injury he really needs to derail his career.

Others have come back from wrist injuries, and a move to 2B could make that much less a problem.
