xBABIP uses MLB averages for the type of contact (liner, fly, ground ball) rather than actual hits and outs to see if the hitter is getting an unusual amount of his contact dropping in / going through or is snake bit.

why aren't the nats interested?

And I thought we had to tender/non-tender people before last night?

edit: the deadline is tonight. nice.

Kelly Johnson is a solid bat, only 28 next season, but a very bad defensive player.  High error total and absolutely no range.  His UZR has been atrocious for an everyday player.

DeRosa said to be seeking Figgins type money.

I'd really like someone like Hairston.  Give him a shot to win 2B/SS everyday, but count on him more to fill in several spots.

Of course, I'd like Mike Morse to be given a shot at 2B as well.

I hope we can poach a guy dissappointed by other offers this year like Dunn last year- maybe DeRosa?

I think that's what they're trying to do, but to do so, we're going to have to wait until February to get guys like that.  And that will piss off SF.

Well, that's enough reason to do so for me.

Well looks like Halladay is out of the question (wasn't expecting anything) and so is Lackey now (At least wanted to see a bid from us)...

Three guys I still want. Garland and Hudson or DeRosa.

3:42pm: ESPN's Bruce Levine adds the Nationals (to other interested teams), and notes that Capps would like a multiyear deal.

Nats showing interest in Capps.

Phew!

Get 'er done! Offer ... I don't know ... 3 years, $9 million? It would make the Astros look like doofuses for giving Lyon 15.  :icon_mrgreen:

why are we interested again? he was horrible last year. his secondary pitches suck.

I remember when Milledge (:pimp:) hit that GW HR off of him in Pitt a few years ago.

Maybe his career 6.9/1.6 K/BB is a reason. Maybe because Capps is a better talent than any of the Nats RP.

Or maybe, just maybe we're doing it to piss you off.

5.88 ERA, 1.66 WHIP last year. Gave up 10 HRs in 54.1 IPs. 5 blown saves.

Definitely wouldn't want him as my closer. Maybe bring him here on a cheap deal hoping that he returns to his previous form. But guaranteeing him the closer role and a 2 year deal? No thank you.

Eh. Id have to agree. Look at Hanrahan. He sucked dick. Id like to see him here but how do we know he wont pull this crap this year? If we can get him for cheaper then I'm fine for it. I'd still be fine for it if we grab him but we have to be cautious here.

I have never been impressed with Capps.

Here is the video of the Milledge GW HR off of him in the top of the 9th down by 1 with 2 outs:

That is the same HR that sparked the Dukes-Acta fight in the dugout. classic :lmao:

What does Hanrahan have to do with Capps?  Capps has a track record of being good before last year.

I don't know. I was going to say something but never did so now it looks dumb. I guess I was going to say going in with a reliever who hasn't been spectacular is something we should avoid but Capps is different. Still though. Asking for multi year after a year like that is kind of bizarre

Yea, thats why I'm disappointed. I wanted to see an offer from us to spark atleast LAC uproars, Plan A threads and the random blog guys that say they have inside sources.

Everything happened way to soon. Now all thats left thats interesting is Bay and Holliday which I know we aren't getting. Now all we can do is wait these 3 miserable months until ST.

Happy Holidays!! :P
