Just got back from a trip to Tennessee where we toured the Jack Daniel distillery. It was really well done. They went through the history of how it got started, and how they managed to keep going through Prohibition. We also saw the entire distilling process from beginning to end. I did not know that they even make their own charcoal and barrels so they maintain complete control over the entire process. Alas, I was driving, so I did not take the tasting part of the tour, but it looked like the tasting pours were generous. I am not a whiskey drinker, but they do have a honey-infused whiskey that I tried later and liked, so I brought home a bottle of that.
It’s about an hour and a half from Nashville, so if you happen to be down that way, I can highly recommend the tour.
