0-3 1k so far tonight..... struggling badly right now.

They surely want him to experience a slump at low A to see how he gets out of it.

he's on the front of ESPN.com's MLB page right now:

Crasnick looks as his performance at Hagerstown and track to the majors:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&page=nextedit3

Goldstein rates him:

http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/news/story?id=6587453

Quote
"He's basically Superman

he rates an 80 on the power scale (80 is a perfect score).

And he rates #7 on the best draft prospects since 1965

http://espn.go.com/blog/SweetSpot/post/_/id/11482/top-50-prospects-of-the-draft-era

(Strasburg is #2)

I strongly recommend you listen to the podcast by Goldstein from Baseball Prospectus (here ... start around 57:00). He and his co-host Jason Parks spend about 20 minutes talking about Harper.

Good reports on his power, arm, base running and work to get better as an OF. Still some work to do on his maturity/make-up. I trust the opinions of these two guys who are not just connected to the scouting community but also have some experience scouting in their own right

1-4 1B BB 2K down to .327
Interesting thought, when he comes up to Potomac Perez hitting leadoff, Hood hitting 2nd, Harper hitting 3rd. That could be the future folks.

i've thought that too.  i may actually go to potomac for that then.  even if it is the worst ballpark in baseball.

Drove out to to Hagerstown straight from Nats Town after the day game today.  I got there in the 7th inning of the first game just in time to see Harper strike out looking, and he got all in the umpire's face about the strike call.  Arrogant turd.  What a waste of time and gas

Yea, because NO ONE has ever argued in the umpire's face after a strike out looking.

the standard some people expect this kid to live up to regarding his conduct is unrealistic and completely absurd

#1 pick or not, no matter what he's expected to do over the next year or two, he's still a first year pro in low-A ball and pretty far down the totem pole.  He hasn't earned anything yet and needs to know his role

you know, there's an outside chance of Zimmerman and Harper being at Potomac at the same time.

I never really thought about Harper at Potomac, potentially fitting in with Perez and Hood. More specifically, Hood. I think Hood's potential is higher, and he's showing reason to believe he'll reach his potential.

Id love to see him hit in front of Harper for an extended period of time. He's going to get more pitches to hit, more pitches to drive.

Even more reason to Bryce to be promoted now.

I'd bet that Bryce has a better idea of the strike zone than some low-A ump.

Can you reword that, because it sounds like you think Hood has more potential than Harper?

Tonight  he finished  3-4 (all singles), 0 R, 0 RBI, 1 BB.
Avg. up to .342.

In other prospect news, Willie Mays Hayes - check that - Kevin Keyes was 3-5, 2R, 2 2B, 3 RBIs, 1 SO.  Truly numbers that myths are made of.   He almost doubled his .avg tonight,  bringing his avg. up to .154!  :spaz:

Hayes - er Keyes - had 2 errors to boot!

so sick. 13 HRs, 41 RBIs, and his BA is back up to a pedestrian .346 :lmao:
