In real time it looked really, really close.  But on the slow mo, I think he got it right.  Like the effort though.

They showed a freeze frame that was pretty conclusive.  He was out.  Agree on the effort though.

I disagree, the glove initially appeared to be on the arm while the hand was 6" short, but as action continued it is apparent that the glove was perhaps a foot away, but the camera angle did not show that clearly.  An overhead camera would have shown the gap.
I think you are right. bad angle

I respectfully disagree.  The glove was laid down between the camera and the arm, and I agree at that moment it looked like it was in contact, but you can't see at that angle.  As action continued, the runner continued to move forward, and eventually into the glove which showed me that it hadn't been touching when the stop action was shown.  By then, the hand was across the plate.

Too bad they didn't have a camera right above home plate, because that would have shown it conclusively.

I respectfully disagree.

As do I :P

I think what you're seeing is just Blanton's glove moving around.

But I could be wrong.  Either way, it hardly matters now.

That's possible.

Haven't been around lately, been really busy. I'm really impressed with Desmond so far. He should start at short and move Guzie to 2nd.

Last National to hit a home run in his first game: Brandon Watson.
Good news for sportsfan, that is...
