I heard an interview about the new 3Dtv technology that will be available soon and in some places already is. It looks and sound like it will be absolutely incredible. My question is, how do they expect the average consumer to keep up?

The final four and about 1/3 of the World Cup games will be filmed in 3-D this year. I haven't heard much else about how this is going to play out, but the 3-D technology is certainly starting to take hold, especially in sports.

What the freak? 3-D sports? What good does that do for me. I just want to watch the screen not see it go on all around me as if I were on the field

Indeed, I thought it was excellent. Also saw Part 1 of The Pacific tonight. Enjoyed it, but not as much as I did Band of Brothers Part 1. Not sure why, there was plenty of action and the story of WW2 in the Pacific is riveting. We'll see how it goes with the rest. Have 30-30 on the DVR at my son's recommendation.

It was too short -- 53 minutes. For comparison, Currahee was 70 minutes long.

I hope The Pacific has some longer episodes like BoB did.

I thought Pacific was kind of slow, but maybe that was the point?

With band of brothers, I waited for the DVDs and prety much watched it in 3-4 episode blocks. I'll probably do the same with the pacific.

My son had not seen it, so a few years ago he came to visit. We watched the 1st DVD, and he was so taken with it that we stayed up all night watching all of them plus the extras!

my father-in-law is a WWII vet, he lost a brother in Germany during the battle of the bulge, and had another brother come home from Guadalcanal with malaria that he could never shake, and who died fairly young. These shows are a good way to perhaps understand a little of what they went through. Even though he's 90 he can't talk about the war without losing his composure.

No WWII vet is safe around me. I'll pump 'em for all I can get. Every one has his /her own story, completely unique and interesting, even the seemingly mundane. I love history, and WWII is as intense and deep as it gets.
