I'm really liking the 'new' Dr. Who series and the Roku device for streaming instant Netflix content. Makes a nice light cable for somebody like me.
It's a good device. I might be moving mine to make room for a Boxee box though. It does pretty much everything the Roku does, plus more including streaming from your own computers and I think Hulu. Supposed to be under $200.
I've tried the software version. I didn't like it much but to each his own. If a better hardware implementation comes out I might switch. Boxee has hulu but from what I understand it comes and goes depending on the latest updates. I'm not sure what that means for the boxee box.
Yeah, Hulu doesn't want people watching on their TV's You can watch our stuff on your 15" laptop screen, but not on your nice TV from the couch. That doesn't make any sense to me, but oh well, what do I know?
DSub in FTW
Or HDMI out
It'll be a cold day in hell when I get a desktop machine or a Macbook.
my laptop has an hdmi out port
Huh?
To this I say
Ok amend it to add : "Or spend enough to get a high powered graphics card on my laptop."
You must not have been shopping lately.
You must not have been shopping lately. We just played an HD 720p movie on my friend's 50" TV last night via his Intel-graphics powered ultra-low voltage dual core laptop w/ HDMI and it looked great and played flawlessly. He paid ~$650 for that laptop. Lots of laptops comes with HDMI now.damn that was a lot of nerdy words and acronyms
Guess not.
Dsub in is nice, and I doubt the difference is noticeable except in extreme cases anyway, I just like to run as few cables as possible. I've often lamented the lack of a dsub-in on my TV What? I didn't do it
I bought like a 20 foot VGA cable with bundled pc audio in from monoprice for like 10 bucks, then I coil it up when I'm not watching. The picture is still very, very good, and for DVD's and non-HD itunes movies, and certainly Hulu, it is more than sufficient.
I've started watching Jersey Shore, mainly because a lot of kids talk about it at school and Bill Simmons does too. Watched the first two episodes, very... interesting.
