One that almost fell to us was called up last night and inserted into the line up today. Gordon Beckham is going to get the bulk of the time at 3d, replacing Josh Fields. Beckham will spell Alexei Ramirez occasionally, and Fields will get the odd start at DH and 1st, too.

Betemit was DFAd. Maybe our next dumpster dive.

Any of the ChiSox fans on the board - Why Fields and not Getz to the bench? Fields has heated up the past week or so, their BAs are .004 apart (but BA is crud), and Fields has more pop. Is it just Ozzie hates Fields (looked that way last year)?

I saw Beckham play quite a bit in college and he will never be a consistant All-Star but he will be a force for the White Sox and a few All-Stars in his career wouldn't shock me

I had a lot of discussion about his projections this past week with some of the guys in my fantasy league because I traded him and Brett Cecil for Soria. Beckham is supposed to do it all except steal a ton. He was seriously in consideration for #1 pick last year in early mock drafts. The question is whether he has 15 - 20 home run power or 25+ power. The latter could make him a star, especially if he could be a 2d baseman or SS. This again leads to quesiton, why Fields and not Getz being displaced?

I saw him a couple of times in the CWS last year and he looked really good to me there too. I'm a little suprised he made it up this quickly though. Did that Georgia closer ever sign with Seattle? I never heard. I figured he'd be up by now too.

Really, hmmm...he was almost untouchable last year. He's only got 1 save in 13 appearances. I wonder if they're using him in save situations or not?

I thought Fields threw hard. Real Hard. But no command and nothing to off set his fastball.

He has given up 14 HRs in 67.1 IP this year.

McCutchen for Pittsburg is what Milledge was supposed to be.

Has a nice stroke and kid can run like the wind. Milledge is turtle slow compared to him.

I find it extremely ironic that Ken Macha, AKA the original Moneyball manager, has Prince Fielder as his star player, a player who was the face of players that a Moneyball team wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.

Not necessarily true. First of all, Fielder was there before Macha was hired. Secondly, I'm sure if Billy Beane could, he would get Fielder, but those guys get lots of money, and OBP guys are usually cheaper and their efficiency (SLG-wise) isn't too harmful.

This Cleveland-Milwaukee game is unbelievable. Prince Fielder just hit a grand slam homer, Brewers lead 13-12!

Also, they just screwed me out of a possible win for Pavano! Also, in the game where I have Pavano, the one person who I'm competing with most has Martinez, Choo and Braun and they've all had huge games!
