Barroid was at the Giants-Dodgers game tonight.  He still shows his face at a MLB stadium, unlike McGwire.

i agree with you, but not so much because of the team itself, but because of the sanctimonious fans and the fawning over-attention given them by the national media, especially ESPN (The East Coast Sports Network).  Red Sox fans are the AL what Cubs fans are to the NL, though not nearly as obnoxious.

At least WGN shows chestage. ESPN shows Peter Gammons.

The A's totally rushed Trevor Cahill.  He could use some more time at AAA.  I'd hate to see a pitcher that talented fall to ruin.

The Mariners are a blast. they are having so much fun. 14-9 record and 3.5 games up over everyone else in the AL West.

They don't even have a good team but they still find ways to win. Their lineup is much worse than ours'. They obviously have 2 stud starters and not much after that and their pen is significantly better than ours' despite not having many recognizable faces.

why can't we do that, EVER?! :(

yeah, and I guess we used up our lifetime allotment of luck for that 3-4 month stretch. :? :(

there's nothing funner in sports than following an exciting, winning baseball team. the Nats are just killing their fan base right now.

The Indians called up Matt LaPorta. I think he'll be an above average player.

They are tied for last in the AL with Cleveland and Cleveland had a horrid start like ours. Baltimore just sucked to get where they are.

So the two last place teams in the league are all on the Beltway. Baseball sucks in this area. :?

We have one team on our beltway, they have one team on theirs.

Might as well combine them. Then maybe these losers would finally get to .500. :?

I'll take their right fielder, their second baseman, and their AAA catcher.  Boy, their pitching is a mess, and no relief in sight.

C Matt Wieters
1B Nick Johnson
2B Brian Roberts
SS Cristian Guzman
3B Ryan Zimmerman
RF Nick Markakis
CF Elijah Dukes
LF Adam Dunn

SP Jordan Zimmermann
SP Shairon Martis
SP John Lannan
SP Scott Olsen
SP Jeremy Guthrie

I'll take that team.

If this were a DH team, I'd shift Dunn to DH, Dukes to left, and get to play Adam Jones, who has been terrific. .371/ .436 / .652, OPS+ of 175, with 3 steals.  If this is a no DH team, he has to play over Dukes, and I'll let you figure out Dunn / Dukes offense / defense.

Also, Koji Uehara makes it over Olsen or Lannan at this point. 4.50 ERA, 3+:1 K/BB, 112 ERA+, 6 IP/GS.  And if we are indulging our taste for minor leaguers, let's also find room for Chris Tillman over the remainder of Lannan / Olsen.

Bullpen - how do I do a barfing smiley?  Jim Johnson, Dannys Baez, Walker as the loogy, Joolian, Bergmann, Hinckley, and MacDougal to piss of Sportsfan. Beimel when healthy, of course.

Note no Sherrill, Ray, Hanrahan, Rivera, nor Mock.

I would say now. We're not looking up at Boston (probably the most competent front office in baseball) or the Yankees (probably the stupidest, but willing to spend)

I would have put Uehara in, actually, but didn't he just get hurt?
My bullpen would have been Beimel and a bunch of O's.
You're probably right about Adam Jones. Let's make it a DH team. :D

Uehara took a line drive off the chest but I don't think he'll miss time.  I'm not completely sold on Guthrie, either, but he's coming off a couple of good years.
