i've owned my box since I believe '07 or '08 and it's still working.

I had one go bad on me. Microsoft replaced it with no problem. The replacement Xbox is still going strong after three years.

The first one we bought gave us the RROD the second we turned it on.  The replacement has been going strong for three years though.  Pretty sure the add on megacooler has a lot to do with that since a certain someone has been playing the hell out of Skyrim lately.  :P

I mean don't get me wrong, every once in a while I've turned on my baby and she's come up in some Japenese language.  I then turn the system off, unplug, give her a massage ... and she's golden.

I got my refurbished off ebay.  Again, no major problems.

I've gotten the RROD 2 times since owning an xbox 360 since '06, I think? I'm on my third. I had to pay $100 for a replacement because it was conveniently out of warranty. If this current system dies I'm not bothering replacing anything. I only play 360 exclusives like Mass Effect (back when it was an exclusive and now my save file is on the xbox). If there's a PS3 version of a game, I always get the PS3 version and just avoid turning the xbox on all together. I also use it for ESPN3.

I'd just like to point out that rate of failure is a distinctly separate matter from which console is "the best".

Personally I look down my nose at all of you from my self-assembled gaming PC :mg:

I chucked it out my second floor window after #7.

Just curious, where did you get your Xbox from?

My BiL has a theory that all electronics bought at chain stores (Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy, ect) are of inferior quality because they make them out of lesser materials in order to set them at a cheaper price.

Better games + a working piece of hardware= a better system 100% of the time haha.

I still play MVP 05. Its just a heavily modified version. I was planning on renting MLB 12 The Show to see if I like it, but I can't find anyone that has it in stock.

Best Buy

... But where else would you buy a game console from?

Pretty sure even you would admit that your case is extreme.  360 failure rate is obviously a very contentious subject but as with any product, the people who DO have faulty units are going to be the vocal ones.  I'm guessing true failure rates are nowhere near as high as those who've been burned and bitter over it would have everyone else believe.

Besides, I'll take my chances with hardware over the epic disaster that is any network managed by Sony *ANY* day of the week.

Oh really!?! lol, that explains that :D

I don't know where else you get it from. Thats why I'm dubious of it. I could see Wal Mart doing something like that. But BB sells good electronics. You might get a cut down version of a computer, but its only on stuff like expandability (yes, 3 RAM slots are fine, I only need a couple PCI Express slots, only need two HD bays ...)

Plus, at BB, you can get the Geek Squad warranty. While they suck at fixing computers, they are obligated to do it for free. Plus, if they can't fix it, they'll give you another one, free. Thats how I got my current laptop. My old one was acting up, I gave it GS to fix, they fixed it but somehow messed up my motherboard so it only recognized one RAM slot, so the manager said screw it, I'm invoking the lemon clause and gave me a new one (actually, gave me one that was much, much better)

Nope RROD is more unacceptable than Sony's network getting hacked. It didn't cost people money and hassle and they could still play games, just not online.
