I'll take this as sarcasm on your part.
You think 73 wins is accurate for this year's club? Worse record than last year with improvements to the team?

A simulation of one season that didn't match your expectations means that the creators somehow didn't do their homework?

You want me to take that opinion seriously?

73 wins is likely 4th place in this division.

IGN gave MLB 12: The Show an 8.5/10. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1220213p1.html
Obviously the best baseball game out there. Discussion over.

LOL, discussion over because of IGN?  :lmao:

I think OOTP > The Show > 2K, FWIW. But who cares what IGN says?

OOTP is getting distracted with tablet crap. They annoyed me last year, this year is the first time in years I have not pre ordered.

Probably better to run like 100 simulations and come up with an average record.  Okay probably 10 sims...

Ha. Exactly.

Just wanted to do a quick sim to see how it turned out. It's not the end of the world!

Have you checked out the feature list this year?

Last year was a disappointment, agreed.

It looks nice but I lost trust in them to give it a full effort. I will wait and see how it is received, new could suck if it is half ass.

All I want from OOTP is the following.

- When you set your bullpen, I want the manager to follow my plan. i.e. If I put a guy as the 4th highest MR, I want him being the 4th option to pitch. Currently, and for many many years, OOTP has ignored your bullpen assignments and simply put in the pitcher with the best ratings.

- Be able to specify pinch hitting roles/LOOGY roles. If I'm having a guy pinch hit for in the 8th inning, I want my best pinch hitter out there, not some scrub on the end of my bench. Same for late inning bullpen roles. Sometimes a pitch will have insane platoon rating splits, but there's no rhyme or reason as to why the computer puts certain players in at certain times.

- Option to automatically sit guys with day to day injuries. Currently, you can tick off a box that says "don't pinch hit player when tired"... why can't they have a box that says "don't play player when they have a day to day injury"?

As you may have gleaned, I play in an online league that sims a week at a time, so I don't have control over the in-game management choices.

Have you put that into the enhancements thread on the OOTP forum?  They used to be pretty good about following up on them.

Who cares what you think about any given site? You do, and only you.
I meant discussion over in relation to comparing The Show and 2K12. If you're going to argue that an 8.5<7, go right ahead haha.

Yes, very true. Another simulation could yield a record closer to 80, which is more realistic IMO. It is a tough division though.

I don't get your viewpoint.

First you bash MLB The Show 12 for saying the Nats were only going to win 73 games... and then you praise it for IGN saying it was better.

Everyone knows The Show is better than 2K. Not sure why that's even being discussed.

I think you all are looking into my posts a bit too much. I simply posted a link to IGN's review in case someone wanted to see it. I also was not being serious when I said "Discussion over". It had a bit of sarcasm behind it I suppose.

Alright so I bought the show and it's great as usual. I agree with what IGN said about wishing there were just a few more details added to parks, but most of those missing details are associated with copyrights.
Anyways, I ran two season simulations just to see what happened. I know they mean absolutely nothing. The first sim gave me 73 wins (haha). The second sim gave me 87 wins, 3rd place in the NL East, and about 5 or 6 games behind the 1st place Phillies. 14 game difference.
Either way they didn't make the playoffs. It was also interesting to see it place the Braves in 4th place, but they were about 19 games back. It really came down to the Phillies, Marlins, and Nationals down the stretch.
I do hope it's a 2 or 3 team race down the stretch and not 4 teams.

Also, I haven't gotten into it yet, but did they have enough time to add the extra wild card spot into this game?

From what I heard, no they didn't add the extra wild card spots since the game was completed before the deal was made.

They should release a downloaded patch that includes the extra wildcards in the game. I hope they're developing it as we type.
