New post from Chico. IF He is right, I hope The Lerners have trouble selling 20,000 tickets a game.

It makes sense. Quick fixes are not the answers/solutions.

Here we go again.  And relying on Pete Orr/Levale Speigner and 100+ loss seasons are?

We're screwed either way.  May as well get someone that can help us win now, give our guys some confidence, give our fans something to watch and not rush the development in Marrero.

Though he is a magnificent specimen of athlete, electrifying in every way, who says we are depending on Pete Orr for anything? I can't even remember the last time I've seen Speigner.

That's the wrong mindset. We should not just spend money just to spend it and appease impatient fans. It has to be a smart and sensible signing. Dunn and Hudson don't make sense.

Screw this. I can't take another 100+ loss season.
If we rely on Nick Johnson, we are going to get burned. Who's going to fill in for him?

Considering the source, does anyone else find this laughable?

Oooo, Teix rubbing the salt in those open, infected wounds Baltimore wounds.

Did anyone hear the comments from Tex about how he came to the decision to sign with the Yankees?  It made me want to puke.

Come on Mark.  You've already signed the contract.  You don't need to suck up now, they have to pay you.

NOTLD- it's just an example it could be anyone of the AAAA/oft-injured/out of position options we're going to throw out there at 1B.

Sportsfan- We're not talking Mark Teixeira money/years here.  We'd be adding a big bopper and/or former all-star to our line-up ... which would be much needed.  Look how rechid our offense was last season?  If we sit back and do nothing AGAIN, I can't wait to see the TV ratings and attendence figures this season.  You thought last year was bad, wow.

What? More than him wearing a Yank hat to O's games? Let's hear what you know!

Okay, so they go in the crapper. So what? What are you going to do? Stop paying attention to the team? What are you threatening here considering you do not personally lose or gain a penny when it comes to TV ratings and attendance at the stadium?

Something to the effect of, "I turned to [wife's name] and said, 'I dunno honey, what do you think?'  And she said, 'Mark, I just want you to be happy wherever you go.'  And then just before Christmas she said, 'hon, I think you should be a Yankee.'  So I think Cash should thank her for this decision as much as anyone else."

Translation:

Mark's wife:  "YOU DUMB, freak!  WHAT PART OF 180 MILLION DOLLARS ARE YOU FAILING TO UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!??!"

They've been replaying clips all afternoon on XM-175.  I'm sure you'll hear it again.  Everything the Spankees do is so theatrical it makes me sick to my stomach.

I just don't think going out and signing overrated 29-30 year-old players to 3-year contracts is that smart, especially for a rebuilding team like ours'. It doesn't fit the "plan".

I could care less what the TV ratings and attendance numbers are. Not my problem.

Yes, it was a disgraceful ass-kissing.  I'm real glad I'm not an Orioles fan hearing that.

His wife told him to play anywhere that would make him happy and then she finally said Be a Yankee
He was sucking up to Don Mattingly and said he liked Cal, but Mattingly was his man

He loved playing at Yankees stadium and always dreamed of wearing the pinstripes.
Last but not least, he said he knew 2 weeks before he signed that he was going to be a Yankee. Once the deal came to be, he was ecstatic.

i think our outfield should be set in stone: Willingham in left, leave Lastings in center, and Dukes and his cannon arm in right.

i don't like this competition for center business, especially if the loser (Milledge) is benched. there wouldn't be much competition between Dukes and Milledge since Dukes is the far more advanced and simply superior ballplayer.

sportsfan's ragepost count is inversely proportional to the number of wins the team gets, so of course he doesn't want us to improve, it might threaten his lead in the forum stats
