I'm not. I can't wait until we face him and the Yankees June 17-19.

on a side note, I'm convinced.

Harold Reynolds and the Hot Stove Dudes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kruk, Olney and Ravech.

even though they were talking about the Yankees, their whole discussion about it was excellent.

I have no further reason to ever watch Baseball Tonight.

Just on a side note, if we're going after people who can't field anymore, why haven't we looked at Giambi?

.247/.373/.502 OPS: 875 32hrs/96 RBIS - that's without the juice, just imagine what he'd do against the NL, probably higher avg and more power. He's close to signing for a reported 5.25M in 09 and a 4m option for 2010. Just want to make sure we spend the right amount so we can save up for a good FA next year, it's not like we have an unlimited payroll like the yanks, so every MILL we save is necessary.

10/200 would've done it 8) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give it up, dude. Not even that would of gotten Teix into Nats uniform. Teix was going to be a Yank no matter what.

Tex said he used to wear a Yankees hat to the O's games. I wonder what the O's fans have to say about that? I should visit OH more often.

haha I started this thread December 16 and we're 56 pages into it and our Plan "B" of obtaining Dunn/Hudson is still realistic.

I think you've reached the point of "beyond sarcasm" where you say it's sarcasm, yet it is what you truly believe.

Of course we'll know, we already know, he isn't wearing a Nats uniform.

That is assuming Dunn or Hudson find it realistic too...

Hudson supposedly wants to come here.

Dunn might have no other choice.

Phil Wood mentioned something on the MASN Hot Stove about Teix supposedly growing up a Yanks fan.

I would've paid good money to have seen the look on Jim Hunter's face after he said that.

Hudson I believe is all about the money so he is our most realistic chance.

Dunn will have more than enough choices. It is ridiculous to assume that we are the only team bidding for his services.

That's common knowledge. He wore #23 because of his favorite player - Mattingly.  But he will have to settle for #25 (Giambi's old #) because 23 is retired.

no NOTLD I am being sarcastic, he's gone.  Remember I was the one who first proposed the idea of locking the Teix and Nats thread, because there is no use about talking about the what if/should've/could've/would've.

Hudson is likely (he's also being courted by a few other teams), Dunn is likely as well.  We have all that money saved up, give him the knockout offer he won't refuse over three years.  Face it, Cubs aren't going to take him they have Bradley (w/ Lee @ 1B).  The Rays just got Burrell (w/ a now crowded OF and Pena @ 1B).  The Dodgers most likely will get Manny (w/ Loney @ 1B).  Some of the teams that were coveting Dunn are now dropping out because they have other options.  Ken Rosenthal among others still feel all signs point to Washington making a Dunn deal.

Really? Who?
He mentioned the Cubs, but they don't want him anymore now that they picked up Bradley
Dodgers? Only if they miss out on Manny, but I doubt they will

Who else is interested?

There probably are other teams interested in Dunn, admittedly, but I bet the price tag is down on him.  There aren't too many viable destinations at this point.  I wouldn't be stunned if the Giants make a bid, but the Nats shouldn't have to go too high to have a high bid, and there's the Kearns factor with us.

Yeah, the media is totally in the know when it comes to these things. They certainly proved that with Teixeira.

I honestly don't know where he'll end up, but it still is ridiculous to believe we are the ONLY suitors for one of the only remaining big bats left on the FA Market...if he is as good as he is touted around here. But considering everyone truly believes that we are the ONLY ONES LEFT, something tells me he isn't as good as some make him sound around here.

I don't think anyone feels we're the only suitors, but we should be taken serious as one of the few remaining contenders.

Hey he is what he is.  A 40 homer basher with a good OBP, but strikes out a lot and is average defensively.  He's better than our current options (that's not saying much).

New post from Chico. IF He is right, I hope The Lerners have trouble selling 20,000 tickets a game.

Quote
Adam Dunn (29) and Orlando Hudson (31) are young enough that Washington has legitimate interest, and those players appear to be their primary targets at this point. But the team is pessimistic about signing either player; their initial asking prices seem a bit high, one source said, and the Nats will probably become a realistic contender for Hudson and Dunn only if league-wide interest in either player cools.
