The Giants are interested in Manny, so I am curious as to whether they'd go after Dunn if they miss out, but they appear to have no interest.

No one wants Dunn.

Can we seriously say that's true? I doubt that to be the case. If so, that would speak volumes about the almighty ability to draw walks but I don't think that's the case. If no one is really interested in Dunn then we should be able to land him cheaply (our club's specialty).

And he pulls out the article from almost four months ago were people aren't willing to go on record and let us know who they are after they take shots about pens and pencils. Literally, that article has become the Bible for the "Lerners Are Cheap" movement. Too bad it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Yeah DCFan that's another one, thanks for posting it.  There are a bunch of negative reports out there regarding the ownership group.

What the hell is the Washington City Paper? Wasn't that the freebie rag that wrote that horrible stadium review prior to the 09' season which was complete bullcrap or am I thinking of another one?

The City Paper is a left wing, commie, pinko, rag. If even those tree hugging nit-wits can see that the Lerners are cheap, that's saying something.  :glug:

It seems their main nagging point is that back rent the Lerners weren't paying-- because the City didn't finish their part of the deal. Oh, that is so cheap. I am so convinced now.

Next time the plumber comes to repair my toilet and he leaves off the handle to flush, I am so paying him every penny. Hell, I might even tip him.

Quote
If the Dodgers can't find a trade partner, they are likely to soon release Jones -- a borderline Hall of Fame player with 371 career homers -- and he would be free to sign elsewhere for the $400,000 minimum.

That's worth a s/t invite.

FWIW, I would MUCH rather have Dunn than Hudson.  I'd rather take my chances on Hernandez having a good season at 2B than NJ staying healthy for a full season. Dunn would at least help out in the short term whereas Hudson is a complete waste of time (and time is money).

No Hinske.  Please, God, no Eric Hinske.  I don't want to have to start hating this team.

I'd bring in Jones under those conditions.

I think we get Dunn. I think we get Hudson too.
There isn't much interest in either of them, and the Lerners are set on improving the team.

I don't agree with others about Dunn. He is an on base machine and has power. Why wouldn't we want that?
Most of Dunn's HRs are bombs, and not barely over, so I don't think playing in Cincy had much if any effect on him. When he gets a hold of one, he really gets a hold of one.

He was #1 in walks in the NL last season
#2 in HRs
#9 in both OBP and OPS

Only 16 of his 40 HRs were at Great American
He hit 5 in Arizona, would you call that a hitters park?
2 in San Diego
3 in Milwaukee

Dunn doesn't get enough credit, if you ask me

Minor league contract with an invitation to spring training = no risk.

We aren't going to get him easy. A lot of teams have been asking about him, including the Braves and Mets.

With Jimbo, that means starting lineup.

Plus, if he's already getting payed for 6 years, I can't see him hitting the gym like a maniac.

Well I don't want to lose a roster spot to him or give anything up, just saying what my threshold is for getting him.  If one of our competitors wants him bad enough to give something for him, all the better.

You know, the 80-year old in a wheel chair down my street loves baseball. Between sips of bum wine he mentioned playing outfield or first base I think. Why not him?

Cause he's 80.  Duh.

He'd be much better than Andruw Jones. At least he isn't fat, unmotivated, didn't hit .158 in 08', and not to mention have the rest of his stats slowly deteriorating over the past two to three years. Aside from the wheel chair, I can't see much difference.

heyman says there are five clubs (two NL) interested in ken griffey, jr ... i'd like to think we're not included in that group.  and no andruw jones either.
